Why Your Online Widget Isn't Selling

Ideas to Fix Your E-Commerce Website

So you have a wonderful website, a decent rank in search engine results, and a solid traffic flow to your website, but you still haven't been able to sell anything. The truth is, your rank on Google isn't the only factor that decides your success. What can you do to make your site more popular?

Every business site needs a quality slogan that will catch a visitor's attention. Don't be too modest, your slogan must emphasize the best side of you and your business. Slogan must include at least two things: what are you offering, and why should they buy from you?

The design of your slogan and its location are also consequentially important, not just what it says. It should be easily integrated in your site's design, and capture the viewer's eye. It might help to pay a visit to your competition's site to see what kind of slogan they're using.

The copy you use on your website must be clear and to the point. The viewer needs to understand quickly what they'll gain from visiting your site, and exactly what they need to do in order to obtain what you're selling. Many websites make the mistake of not including contact info, so even if the customer wants what the website is offering, he can't find the contact information or order form. You've just lost a customer.

A website that's too bogged down by copy can also frighten away the viewer, so be certain to include only the most relevant topics. Viewers go from one page to another quickly, so the copy should be short and concise, hitting the target to make the viewer interested in what you're selling without wasting any time. Self-promotion is useful when advertising, but the focus of your website should be more about the customer than you.

"Action words" can help to provide a small boost to your sales. Even classics like "act quickly" have been proven to work. One of the best methods to pair this with is to offer a related discount on your site to motivate the viewer to purchase your item right away, rather than bookmarking it for later.

Even in today's market some customers are simply too frightened to purchase something from the internet, wary of fraud. A good way to ease their mind is to include the details of your site's theft prevention, listing how their data is secure in your hands.

If your company relies on the sales it makes online or exposure to viewers surfing the web, you need to create a good website. Even the best product with a poorly planned site will suffer from a lack of customers. By spending some time and effort to figure out how to make your website clean and efficient, your profit margin may see a noticeable rise in the next report.
