In organic makeup, there are no animal oils, synthetic or petroleum based ingredients. Petroleum is a very thick substance and along with animal fats these can clog pores and cause acne in some people who use synthetic makeup.
Organic makeup is made up of thin plant oils and essential vitamins. The main advantage of organic makeup is that the oils used come from plants and plant oils are very thin. The majority of plants have some sort of medicinal or healthy advantage to using them. They almost always have essential vitamins or minerals that are crucial for skin health.
Synthetic makeup has cancer causing agents in them and organic makeup does not. There are nearly 20 different chemicals used in synthetic makeup, including formaldehyde. Also, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has found potentially dangerous levels of lead in lipsticks.
Organic, in general, can't really be defined because there is no definition for it and it's not carefully regulated; makeup-wise. Only when it has a "USDA Organic" seal do you know that it's truly organic. So the best way to go "organic" with makeup is to carefully look at the labels of products you buy. A product might claim to be organic because it has an organic ingredient, but be careful because it might have an un-organic ingredient or ingredients as well.
You should avoid three major ingredients in cosmetics: parabens; phthalates; and talc.
Why? Because Parabens have been linked to breast cancer, phthalates has been shown to be harmful to the reproductive system and talc to be linked to ovarian cancer.
In general organic makeup is always better for your skin and your health. Lathering on thick chemicals is never a good idea for your skin or your body. Your skin will absorb what is put on it, and putting synthetic makeup filled with unknown harmful chemicals will be absorbed into your body and travel through your blood stream.
Another great benefit of organic makeup is that it's great for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It does not irritate like the synthetic makeups do. Organic makeups don't clog pores, and don't irritate the skin. They won't cause skin reactions. Organic makeup allows the skin to breathe. It's also easy to remove; you don't need harsh removers, just soap and water.
Going organic will make you feel better in general and also make your skin feel better. Make the switch today and see how much of a difference it makes in your life. You'll feel and be healthier and just knowing you aren't loaded with chemicals should ease your mind and make you even more radiant!
