Why Pregnant Women Get No Sleep

Shannon Frye
Most people will tell you that when you have your baby you will not get any sleep. What they really should tell you is that from the day you become pregnant you will never sleep again. At first, the reason you won't be sleeping might be due to stress or excitement. Your life is all about to change and it will either worry you and be very exciting and you wont be able to sleep. Plus, you will have so many things on your mind that you want to do, such as getting ready for the new baby. You will also worry about what child birth will actually be like if you've never experienced it.

Another reason you wont be able to sleep is because you will have to go to the bathroom a lot. The pressure of the growing baby inside of you will weigh down on your bladder and cause you to get up at least once through the night to go to the bathroom. Your breasts will also be very sore and this will make it impossible to forget about that and get a decent nights rest. Your legs, ankles and back will also be very sore all the way through pregnancy. As you get farther along it will become very hard to breathe and this will also cause a lack of sleep.

Morning sickness will also be a major cause that you won't get any sleep. You may be waking up every twenty minutes through the night to vomit. The best thing you can do is put a trash can next to the bed so you don't have to try and make it to the bathroom every single time. If you're not waking up to throw up you're waking up because you feel horrible or you feel really hungry. You will want to do nothing but eat all the time. I would suggest eating a little snack before you go to bed if you can manage to.

Once the baby gets big enough you wont be able to fall asleep because the second you lay down your baby will wake up. He or she will kick up all through out the night. This can become very uncomfortable when the baby is kicking parts of your organs and it feels like you have a horrible cramp. Every single night that I layed down to go to bed my daughter would wake up and start kicking me and she still does that to this day!
