Not only is the war a reason that Barack Obama could fail, but the economy is as well. If President Obama doesn't find a way to turn the economy around for the common person, rather than for the banks and business then he will lose the respect and support of the people who voted for him. He needs to make sure that the lower and middle class aren't sinking deeper into debt, the entire lower and middle class. If he focuses too much on one group of people, not only will he fail, but he will lose the respect he worked so hard to earn during his campaign.
Somehow, as President, Obama has to clean up the problems that were left behind as well as focus on fulfilling the things that he promised to the people. He needs to move the country ahead, he needs to work on problems that have needed to be fixed, promised to be fixed for more than the last few years. For instance, there have been several promises over the last few campaigns to fix the health care system, but thus far, no one has gotten around to doing anything tangible about it.
Barack Obama wants to be the face of change for this country, but if he doesn't make a substantial step forward with tangible, visible, large changes, he will fail. It won't matter what else he does, people will remember his mistakes, possibly more so than the mistakes of President Bush. Barack Obama will be under a microscope for the entire time he is in the White House, probably more so than any other President in recent memory, people will be waiting to see if he follows through and anything he does that does not jive with what the people think he promised will be deemed as a failure.
People don't want him to fail, they want him to make the changes that need to be made in this country. They expect him to live up to the standards that they have set for him and will be more than happy to knock him off his pedestal when he makes a mistake. I wish President Barack Obama the best of luck. He's going to need it.
