Why President Obama Has Lost His Mojo

The Price of Dishonesty

Mitch Biggs
Mr President, I know it must be frustrating to wake up each morning and realize that you have lost your mojo. Just to be clear, I am referring to the original definition of mojo meaning "charm or spell" and not the evolved definition of sex appeal or talent. There was a time when you were labeled as a great gifted orator. The American Public was mesmerized by your words and forgave 20 year indiscretions with Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Alice Palmer and Saul Alinsky.

I am sure when it was getting hot in the kitchen with Health Care Reform, your staff was well advised to get you back into your groove. You know, the campaign trail. That is where you worked your magic. Surely, there you would find your mojo and become effective again. It is too hard to fundamentally transform America from the Oval Office. That was your defining moment. Until then you only suspected that you lost your mojo. It is like it happened over night. Tic-Tac-Toe; three in a row. Bob McDonnell from Virginia, Chris Christie from New Jersey and then the dreaded Scott Brown of Massachusetts. You campaigned for each of the opponents and came up goose eggs. Nothing. Nada.

Did Sarah Palin steal your mojo? How could it be? She is not a constitutional scholar from Harvard. Mojo is not an intellectual commodity or finite. There is enough mojo for anyone who deserves it. Back in the day, large crowds, even from the international arena, would come to hang on your every word. Now they are flocking to Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin rallies, tea party events and Karl Rove book signings. What happened to your mojo Mr President?

Mr President, I need you to get your mojo back. Even though you did not earn my vote, you are my President. A president without mojo is like a congressman without a lobbyist. So let me help you find your mojo for the benefit of our nation. Here's a little secret. Sarah Palin and the tea party movement did not steal your mojo; you gave it to them!

Every time you broke a campaign promise, you gave away your mojo. A gift to your critics. I know it is hard to be honorable, but that is what the American people demand of their leader. You can not stand before Americans and tell them Health Care Reform, which we desperately need, will be conducted in a bipartisan manner with C-SPAN cameras allowing the American people to observe who represents their best interest and then engage in back room deals with your own party. That is how you gave away your mojo. It also includes honorable appointments to key staff positions. You need quality staff appointments that display your commitment of assembling a team of doers and not cronies with felonious records. Mojo can be duplicated if done correctly. To create more mojo you must attract quality talent to your team. Mr Gibbs does not have mojo by the way. Neither does Rahm Emanuel, Eric Holder or Janet Napolitano. Van Jones had mojo but in an evil kind of way. Stay away from that!

It is not too late to recapture your mojo Mr President. You have years of tough work ahead of you. While you have been laser focused on Health Care Reform, our leaderless country has stalled economically. It is about jobs, reducing our debt and winning our wars. Nobody will care about Health Care Reform if we are bankrupt. Our laws and freedoms will not matter if we are defeated. Your entire majority will be decimated if you do not turn around the economy by November. You think it is hard to pass legislation with a majority, wait until you lose control of the House and Senate. No amount of mojo will overcome those obstacles. You must refocus your team and honor your word. I heard you talk about job creation during your State of the Union address, but I have not seen any action. The American People have rejected the current Health Care legislation, not true Health Care reform conducted in a bipartisan and incremental way. Let's fix it, not control it. That is where your team is misguided and how you lost your mojo. The fastest way to create mojo is take ownership and turn off the spin machine. The Clintons own the patent to the spin machine. Leave it alone; it's dangerous unless you are trained to use it. Mr President, stop rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic! You must regain public trust by doing what you say with consistency. Only then will you will find your mojo once again.
