Why Procrastination is One of Your Worst Enemies

Roger C.
There are several behaviors that act as walls between you and your success. Sometimes it is very hard to break them, but you have to do it if your goal in life is to be successful in whatever area you want; as a father, husband, worker, entrepreneur, musician, or whatever you like and enjoy. These walls can be attributed to behaviors such as laziness, self-doubt, or fear, but one of the worst and most common is the innocent-looking procrastination.

Procrastination, unfortunately, is amazingly common; I can even dare to say that we all have procrastinated in one point of our lives, but having procrastination as a habit can kill most goals. The good news is that there are several tricks that can reduce or even eliminate procrastination in our lives.

Sometimes when you are working in a project that seems too daring or complicated and that you don't even know how to tackle, it is easy t fall victim of procrastination, but you can bring yourself to do the works if you cheat. Convince yourself that the work you will be doing will only last 25 minutes; you won't believe how useful it is if you can pull it off. You feel like every time is the last piece of work and that can keep you very motivated. Having the idea of working in a project for a long time is discouraging and you'll waste time just evaluating how hard it is; avoid this conduct.

The hardest part of a project is the start, but when you convince yourself that it is going to be easy and just for a little while you can start faster and more motivated. Just be constant and get the job done in short steps; don't try to finish all at once, remember that the Roman Empire wasn't built in one day.

To spend our time more efficiently it is also important to determine your priorities. The day is short and sometimes when you don't have your priorities set, the day is over and you're still in the start line. Your distractions might include the TV, internet, friends, family, kids, wife, or hobbies; when you set your priorities make sure to eliminate those distractions that are the least important. Don't break all your relationships to achieve your goals because it is a bad idea. You need time to relax and enjoy either on your own or with your loved ones, but perhaps you can cut your TV hours from 3 hours a day to one, or avoid aimlessly surfing the internet for hours. These small things can traduce into huge improvements in your life.
