Why Rent Movies Online?

Renting Movies Online is Easier and Cheaper

There are many good reasons to rent movies online. Let's start with the fact that you can rent movies online in your pajamas and house slippers while you browse. Granted, you probably won't get kicked out of Blockbuster for wearing your house slippers, but how would you rather rent movies? You can rent movies online, from the privacy of your own home, without any lines, in your bunny slippers, or would you rather get dressed, drive all the way to the video store, find out your first choice isn't there, pick out something else, wait in line behind two bratty kids arguing over candy while their oblivious Mom chats away on the cell phone, only to get home, get back in your pajamas, and discover that the plan-B movie you just rented is a real stinker? The choice is yours.

But avoiding the scene above is just the first reason to rent movies online. The real reason online movie rentals started in the first place was to help you avoid those pesky late fees. Netflix co-founder, Reed Hastings, dreamed up the idea for Netflix when he had to pay over $40 in late fees for Apollo 13. One key component of both Blockbuster Online and Netflix is that when you rent movies online, you can turn them in whenever you want - no late fees. So if you want to rent a movie for two weeks and show it to your cousin when he comes into town, you can. If you want to rent a movie for one day, return it, and then rent another one, you can.

Besides the late fees, you can also save money on the movie rentals themselves. Consider that you might spend as much as $4.50 renting a single movie from Blockbuster. But Blockbuster Online allows you to rent as many movies as you want online, without late fees, for $8.99 per month. So if you rent a movie from the store every weekend, you could be paying $18 per month in movie rental fees. If you rent movies online, you pay $9.99 per month for the same number of movies - or more movies, depending upon how fast you rent movies and return them.

In today's day and age, driving all the way to your local video store is out. Renting movies online is in.
