Why Sami Brady Makes Days of Our Lives Worth Watching

My favorite character on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) is Samantha (Sami) Brady. Wikipedia describes her character as a troublemaker, Salem's resident bad girl and America's favorite villain. See Tammy's Ten for reasons Sami is the best character on the show and makes DOOL worth watching.

1. The same actress, Allison Sweeney, has portrayed Sami Brady since 1993. Let's face it, there's nothing worse than seeing your favorite character recast. It's like losing an old friend.

2. Sami's character is always involved in the most interesting plots of the show. As Sami is the daughter of main characters Roman Brady and Marlena Evans, her character is an integral part of the drama and has considerable time on the screen.

3. She has amazing spirit. Sami is the most passionate and driven person you could ever imagine. She always goes after what she wants in life, no matter what the consequence of her actions will be. No task is too difficult to overcome. Switching the paternity results for her son was a piece of cake!

4. She never gets away with anything. She plots and schemes and lies her way out of most situations, but in the end it always blows up in her face. It's suspenseful to watch her almost get caught for her troublemaking and comical to see it all fall apart when her scheming is eventually discovered.

5. Sami (Allison Sweeney) is beautiful. People who watch soaps love to see beautiful people in the latest clothes and accessories. They like to see someone they could be envious of and would love to look like. Sami fits this profile well.

6. Sami is a survivor in every way. Even when her life falls apart, usually a result of her scheming, she just picks up the pieces and moves on. Her character is never weepy, weak or depressed. She does scream and cry and throw an excellent fit, but then shortly after begins plotting her next move.

7. Sami's character is always involved in crazy love situations. She is always in love with the wrong unavailable person and has been left at the alter more than once. She married a character Franco Kelly, who was murdered on her wedding day. She was then framed and accused of killing him and almost put to death by lethal injection. She currently has twins with two different fathers and is in love with both men.

8. She never works. Wouldn't we all love to have the relaxing life of the characters on our favorite soap? She has held a few temporary positions, usually when the job is relevant to her scheming, but nothing of any lasting nature. Currently she is a stay-at-home mom of her twins.

9. She is great at scrapping with anyone that gets in her way. Nobody argues better than Sami Brady. You definitely do not want to get on her bad side. Her character is excellent at saying exactly what she is thinking, is very blunt and loves to fight with other women. I don't think she has any girlfriends; even her own sisters can't stand to be near her.

10. Sami (Allison Sweeney) is great at showing emotion. Her plots may not always be believable, but the emotion she portrays definitely is. With the amount of screen time she spends crying, fighting, and screaming, I guess she gets a lot of practice.

Sami has been married more times than Elizabeth Taylor. Most of the marriages only lasted for a few days, if they even made it through the wedding service. She has switched the paternity results of her own child, as well as her mother's, to suit her own purpose. Sami blackmailed a doctor into telling her sister she could never have children, and then pursued her sister's man. She also turned herself into a man (Stan) in an elaborate scheme for revenge on her mortal enemy Kate Roberts. Whether her scenes are sad, comical or suspenseful, they are always entertaining. I have been watching DOOL for about 17 years now, since I was a teenager in high school, and I will continue to tune in as long as she is still plotting away in Salem.
