Why the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Should Beat the IPad 2 but Won't
Why the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Is Better Than, but Will Never Beat the IPad 2
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is better than the Apple iPad 2 in nearly every way - larger screen, better resolution, more advanced cameras, Adobe Flash support, more RAM, and other features - but when people think of the current generation of tablets, the iPad 2 is always thought to be the crème de la crème of mobile tablets.
If you were to line up the iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 side by side, you'd notice that while they both have front and back facing cameras, large screens, dual-core processors and both offer support for mobile broadband internet capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1's cameras sport 2 and 5 megapixel camera vs. the iPad 2's reported VGA and 1 megapixel camera, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 supports 4G mobile broadband while Apple's tablet only supports 3G, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has twice the RAM [1GB vs. 512MB], expandable memory, and has a larger display - all while weighing less than the iPad 2.
With all of the Galaxy Tab 10.1's superior specs, it may seem odd that Apple has the majority share of the tablet industry, but people are more interested in what a tablet can do than how it can do something [software vs. hardware]. Where Samsung has Apple beat in tablet hardware, the iPad 2 more than makes up for in software. The iTunes App store features over 300,000 apps and 65,000 exclusive tablet apps, while the Galaxy Tab 10.1's Android Marketplace will only offer a small fraction of the apps offered by Apple.
In addition to "wowing" consumers with apps that do nearly everything, the iPad 2 also makes using its tablet very easy for technology newcomers, is the most popular tablet, is able to leverage the success of the first generation iPad, and also has that "Apple appeal" that consumers go crazy over.
The average consumer is more interested in software than hardware and while the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tops the iPad 2 in terms of hardware, Samsung totally missed the ball as far as offering consumers a nonthreatening and epic experience like Apple's iPad 2 - making Apple's tablet the clear winner over Samsung's new mobile tablet.

Post a CommentGreat article.
You left out that the average consumer would buy a clapper from Apple if they simply stuck thier logo on it, and hail it as the greated device ever. Large volumes of applications that produce a talking cat do not make for a better software offering. But the average sheep, or rather consumer falls for the marketing hype every time. It is a true shame that the better product will lose to the marketing mind control Apple has over the general public.
