Why is Scientology on the Offensive?

Brett Davison
On the last day of this week, a second worldwide demonstration against the Chuch of Scientology (CoS for short) will be held at 11:00 AM, local time. This protest is called Operation Party Hard because it is held to "de-celebrate" the birthday of L. Ron Hubbard. Word of this protest is spreading both on and off the internet and plans have even been made for those who do not live near a major city to protest at gas stations and highways. The first protest occurred in 107 cities across the world and was carried out by aproximately 9,000 demonstrators. In one video, and anon ( member of Anonymous) said to "expect us in greater numbers." So why is it that the CoS still refuses to adress any of the charges that have been made against them?

On YouTube, the main battleground in Anonymous's war on Scientology, a video has been released entitled "The Un'Funny Truth About Scientology." This video details several deaths that have been linked to Scientology yet have not resulted in any charges. The CoS has failed to respond to this video. However, lesser threats are being attacked with lawsuits in an attempt to silence the Scientology's growing critics. Scientology even managed to have the original video in which Anonymous declared war upon it removed...for a little while. Other anons posted replicas of the video all over YouTube during that brief time when the original was being silenced. Earlier, Scientology attempted to label Anonymous as a terrorist group of religious bigots, even goping as far as to say that Anonymous's standard material is "The Communist Manifesto" and "Mein Kampf." This prompted many anons to laugh so hard as to appear to be having seizures.

In order to deal with real life demonstrations, some Scientologists have stated that they will impersonate anons (its not that hard, all you have to do is put a mask on) and bomb their own "churches" as well as plant false evidence in the cars of protestors. This is no secret, you can find this information on YouTube! The police are being informed of these threats and a video has been released talling protestors exactly what they must do if this happens.

In other words, the CoS is trying to attack Anonymous in the same way that it attacks individuals. This simply doesn't work. Aonymous cannot be defeated because Anonymous has no leaders and Anonymous can be anyone. Anonymous cannot be harrassed because there aren't nearly enough Scientologists to go out and picket the homes of every anon or seek legal action against every anon. The idea of always being on the offensive simply doesn't apply.

There is only one reason (assuming that the leaders of the CoS would score anything over 50 on an IQ test) why Scientology would remain on the offensive: They are completely guilty. The CoS could do a complete investigation into its own dark past and turn every last criminal that it has ever harbored over to the FBI, but thenm it would be left completely leaderless. L. Ron Hubbard made a very good move when he told his followers to always take the offensive, but this is not a war that can be won by any tactic at all. All that Scientology can do, is try to swim pointlessly against the irrestible current of a riverporing over the edge of a cliff.
