Build Fan Base
It has only been a few years since Sega's decision to leave the console manufacturing business and abandon the Sega Dreamcast in order to become a third-party multiplatform publisher. As a result, Sega still has a long way to go in terms of building a relationship with Playstation and other gamers from other systems. Having Sega Dreamcast games on the Playstation Network will be a great opportunity to build a strong bond with the ever-growing fan base of the Playstation 3.
Extra Revenue Stream
Sega hasn't always been a finically stable company. Bringing Sega Dreamcast games to the Playstation Network will provide an extra low-cost revenue stream to the third-party publisher that badly needs it. Aside from coming up with a Sega Dreamcast emulator for the Playstation 3, Sega doesn't have to spend too much in the deal. This is because the games are already completed years ago while the extra savings from the lack of packaging are also added bonuses. Without having to worry about supply and demand to boot, Sega could really make a killing with Sega Dreamcast games on the Playstation Network of the Playstation 3.
Recoup Past Investments
Sega decided to abandon the Sega Dreamcast because it was a huge financial sinkhole. Now may be their chance to recoup all the losses they suffered because of their last video game system. Games like the Shenmue series have the opportunity to earn back their initial investment if Sega decided to put the titles on the Playstation Store of the Playstation 3. Not to mention that Sega has already done this with their previous systems with the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console.
Keep Brand Name Strong
Finally, the Sega Dreamcast is still one of the most beloved video game systems ever despite not selling very well to the mass market in the past. In fact, it still has a cult following more than ten years after launch. Sega should siege this opportunity by bringing Sega Dreamcast games to the Playstation Network. By keeping the system fresh in the minds of the gaming population, Sega would benefit in the future if they were to release a Sega Dreamcast 2 down the line.

Post a CommentActually, your comments in the last paragraph are way off base. Sega came into that generation with a huge defict gap because of failed experiments durning the last cycle(no i dont mean the saturn)...
It would be stupid why would they go into partner ship with the company that put them out the hardware business. when they could just go to microsoft
I think this might be a good idea. Sega Dreamcast was dead when the PS2 came out. I think SEGA should release most of their classic Dreamcast game on the PS3 just for the namesake of Dreamcast fans.
It would be a great partnership for Sony and Sega if they did that. Also, many of DC's games are good. It would create much revenue for Sega and boost a little sales for PS3 for DC fans.
What about Sega Saturn games? Would love to see Panzer Dragoon, Dragonforce and Shining the Holy Ark remakes!
Sega should definately put its dreamcast games on the the playstation 3 i still own my dreamcast and to see the games come to ps3 would be great
