Why a Shopping Girl’s Verizon Motorola Droid 3 Isn’t Ready for Prime Time Use

Sheri Fresonke Harper

I took my Christmas gift of a Verizon Motorola Droid 3, hooked it up to my Facebook, Twitter, and email, downloaded the Foursquare app and went shopping. I thought, post Christmas sales may be of interest to users of Foursquare and friends, so why not get a good long walk out of the cold arctic air that invaded Florida today, and see what's happening.

My Verizon Motorola Droid 3 Power Waned at the Seminole Mall, Sanford, Florida

Airports around the world are buying into the fact that they need electrical outlets, wireless internet access and places for people to chat. I went for a two hour walk, checked out the sales at a dozen stores and reported them, and before my feet were tired, my wimpy Motorola Droid 3 was dead out of juice. Not plugs in available although the Verizon store may have let me cheat. How long before all the malls in the USA buy into letting the greedy phones of America take a drinky poo over lunch?

My Fifty Year Old Fingers Can't Make the Basic Menu on the Verizon Motorolla Droid 3 Work Half the Time

I hold the menu items-go back, main menu, search, etc. and nothing happens. I flick them. Nothing. I squeeze them, nothing. I dab at them nothing. All of a sudden, Felicity's profile on an unopened application is offered. What did I do? Something needs to be done to make me a happy customer. This includes the settings menu.

The Estimated 300MBs of Downloads on a Verizon Motorola Droid 3 Isn't Enough for a Greedy Girl

I figure the reason is that day and night, all my emails are being downloaded to my device, even when I have it turned off. That's why when I wake up, my phone is dead. Thank goodness I have alternative methods for getting 9-11 service. About ½ the time when I click on the shut off button, a menu pops up asking me, do I want off, sleep, airplane mode, etc. Half the time it doesn't and so I guess that means the device is on. Also, I can go into airplane mode but I can't come out of it, even when I'm not on an airplane, although when I tried to place a call it offered to take me out of airplane mode and saved my life. I also can't answer my phone. When I click on the answer button, it never answers. So I have been calling many people back.

Bottom line solution for working with my Verizon Motorola Droid 3

Go slow. This baby has so much on its tiny mind, i.e. talking to you about your phone call, that the control features never get a chance to respond.

Other than the Above Minor Details, My Verizon Motorola Droid 3 Has Nice Features

I like deleting mail quickly. The easy upload from the camera to Foursquare is fun to use, and the camera quality acceptable. I'm just learning apps but I find them easily, especially my Verizon bill and they warned us repeatedly about running out of download quota. Setting up the phone was easy too, since the saleslady copied by address list from my last phone, but I added my accounts and downloaded apps and set up ring tones with no problems. And I get good reception on the phone too, so overall, I'm not dead in the water, but I already want improvements for my next device.

One of the most frequent complaints I hear from people is the buttons are too small or stiff for the fingers. Soon the phones will come with a stylus:)

It is not good when one's phone goes dead. Especially when recharging isn't available. I'm glad you posted this article, as I have been considering replacing my very antique, very unsmart phone. It works, holds a charge, and makes phone calls STILL!
