Why Do so Many Writers Hate the Word "FO"

Typos, Dyslexia or Whatever You Call Them They Are Really Annoying

It doesn't matter what you call them, whether it's Typos or Typographical Errors, Dyslexia, Finger Fumbles, or any other popular terms. The fact is, we all suffer from making the same mistakes over and over, and it's really frustrating.

Probably the most hated word that I can type is the word "FO".

I type this probably more often than I type the word OF. It's accidental of course, but it is so frustrating to know that I keep doing it over and over, multiple times a day.

The word FO is also typed quite often instead of GO, and it just drives me crazy. I am sure if you are a writer you know exactly what I mean.

Last night was a typical situation where I keep typing the first letter of a word in lower case instead of upper case. I know that it ought to be in upper case and go to type it in upper case as well, but whether it's the position of my fingers on the keyboard or my trying to type too fast, the second word just comes out completely in lower case.

This so often happens when I have to type a person's name, with both words having a capital letter at the start.

I was creating a lens on Squidoo last night about Drew Barrymore, and every single time that I had to type her name, it came out as Drew barrymore instead of Drew Barrymore. By the time I had completed the lens (focused article on a topic), it was close to bed time and I was really getting annoyed with myself, having mis-typed her last name a good 20 times out of 20.

There are a number of other situations that I get frustrated with, for example typing a word that should have the first letter in capital, but the first two end up in capital instead.

Using Microsoft Word to compose my articles does help a lot, and using Firefox as my browser helps too, as it has a spell checker incorporated.

This is great when composing articles online, but it does lack one feature which Word does have, the ability to Autocorrect typing.

I use Autocorrect at times to help me with words like FO, because I can tell Word that every time I type FO, it has to replace what I typed with OF.

Since 99% of the time that I type FO I really meant OF not GO, so it's not a problem, unless I fail to find all the errors in grammar or syntax when proofreading my articles.

Well FO is MY FOE. What words do you struggle with when you are typing? Please leave a comment and let me know.

Good one! A little bit of dyslexia gets the best of all writers. I write things backwards more then I would like to admit, but to err is human.

My words: teh, nad, ot and list could go on and on. I'm so proud I didn't flub a word in this comment. Or did I?

I hit "m" instead of comma, sometimes OT instead of To, and quite often teh instead of The. Annoying.

FO is not one of my problems but OT is!

Charlie Speen instead of Charlie Sheen.
