How many times have we heard something akin to this: "Conservatives (or Republicans...take your pick) have no business discussing social issues" or some other such comment? We know we've heard them so many times we just sort of no longer hear the specifics but take for granted the leftist position that when it comes to social issues, politics and Republicans it's strictly hands off. Well allow me to disabuse these leftists of their little talking point.
How many have ever thought about the implications of such a position? Here are the facts....can anyone name a single issue Democrats and the left forward or favor that does not in some way have a social issue aspect to it? I dare anyone to name a single issue that applies...just one will suffice. I want to be enlightened, so surely some brilliant naysayer can provide me the rope to hang myself, no?
No matter what the issue, when it comes to Democrats and the left, if the issue is not directly a social issue or has some direct social component to it, it has an underlying social aspect driving it. Let's explore this thesis.
Republican's generally favor strong defense and military funding. Generally Democrats and die hard lefties object to such high defense expenditures on many levels but one of the left's favorite and oft referred to disagreements is "that money could go to help the poor, pay more to teachers, build better schools, blah. blah, blah...." Clearly the left uses an underlying social issue to found an objection.
What about the dire need to cut budgets and corral spending? No matter how many times conservatives and Republicans address this issue the lefty reply is always the same "Republican's want Granny to die! Republican's hate black and Latino children!" and other such asinine crap, but amazingly, the left gets away with it over and over and over again. Truly shocking and confounding.
I have the fundamental answer to this phenomenon...Lefties don't want Republican's to address social issues because they feel it is their exclusive bailiwick! They don't want the competition. In fact they can't stand the competition.
Can anyone answer for me how social issues are the exclusive concern of the left? How exactly? Are conservative beliefs in individual responsibility in some way unfair? How it is hateful, tawdry and uncaring to advocate government position itself in the identical manner most individuals live their own lives? Some brilliant big thinker riddle me that one.
Let's be real and painfully honest here...there are some people who support leftist politics becuase they benefit from their alleged victimhood, and the left is all about the politics of identity, classification, class warfare and all the rest. Divide and conquer as it were...identify and align with as many minority groups as possible and cobble together a working coalition - that has been the Democrat and leftist tactic since the 1960's.
No matter that leftist rhetoric aside, it is impossible to address each individual constituent groups issues, as the issues of each of the minority constituency is different and potentially conflict on some level. The only hope the left has is to forward they are the only ones with any social concern for whatever social or racial group is in question. It's pure malarkey but to the left's credit they have indeed cobbled together these groups into one amalgam, and the umbrella under which the left lumps them all is social.
I guess then in this light it's painfully clear why the left demands conservatism not dare ever address any social issue in this nation. It's theirs and theirs alone in their eyes and for Republican's to even mention such things is a danger to the left's only source of power...all the various constituency groups they've lumped together. I guess it does no good to point out that 47 years after LBJ's "Great Society," and about $12 Trillion dollars later, to hear the left tell it the plight of all these constituencies are worse then ever? Yet still the left forwards more money is needed for these problems. The reality is the left knows that to throw money at their pet issues is tantamount to handing them a blank check - money the left controls!
For my closing example, anyone remember the various "stimulus packages?" How many know that about 80% of the stimulus money that went to Wisconsin to create jobs was spent on government unions? Know that did ya? It's true. So government workers jobs are more important that private sector jobs? If one is a Democrat, indeed it is so. Government unions support Democrat politics as do most unions, so clearly there is smoke coming from that fire.
Does this not then put truth to the lie of Democrats being so concerned for the plight of the little guy? Isn't a private sector worker one of the "little guys" too? In fact considering the average gov't union worker gets about 20% more in salary and benefit than do private sector workers, does this not then show clearly it is NOT the little guy Democrats are concerned with? I mean the numbers don't lie, so riddle that one big thinkers.
Democrats fear Republican's addressing social issues cause they know we might actually do some good with effective mitigation of some of this and for a Democrat politico and their lefty supporter, that ain't gonna work, now is it? Clearly the left, totally par for the course, cannot stand the competition. For in any world of level competition and the real world results of the left/right dichotomy, the left loses every single time. Therefore to remove the competition so the left can win there can only be one viable alternative...whatever it is the left forwards is the only answer, right? What a load of crap!
