Why Social Media Marketing is an Important Part of SEO

Were you ever involved with Direct Marketing whether you were the sales person or the customer? Take Kirby Vacuum Sales, for example. The person makes his presentation to potential customers. Whether he makes a sale or not, he always asks for referrals, individuals who may be interested in purchasing a Kirby. This way of getting sales is known as word-of-mouth advertising. Social Media Marketing is similar to the referral technique that Kirby Vacuum salespeople use.

"Social media marketing is a recent component of organizations' integrated marketing communications plans. Integrated marketing communications is a principle organizations follow to connect with their targeted markets. Integrated marketing communications coordinates the elements of the promotional mix'"advertising, personal selling, public relations, publicity, direct marketing, and sales promotion'"to produce a customer focused message" (Wikipedia.org).

This is different from tradition marketing, because the organization is not using actively looking for customers by paying for advertising or spending hours getting referrals. By using social media marketing effectively the salesperson may not even need to leave his house or computer desk. Just like Search Engine Optimization, individuals can use Social Media Optimization to drive traffic towards their web business. As a matter in fact, Social Media Marketing go hand-in-hand with Search Engine Optimization in several ways.

When you type effective keywords or key phrases on several different search engines, you are giving your website the potential of getting more traffic. This is the same when you use social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. When you get a few friends or followers, they in turn will refer more individual. It is not uncommon to start out with ten followers on Twitter and have several thousands within a few months. If you are a content producer for Associated Content, for example, all you need to do is to add a link to you articles when you log on to Twitter. A well-written article is going to be noticed by more than just your followers. When you post a link to one of your articles, a majority of your followers will notice it. If several of them read it and are impressed by it, they will retweet the link to their followers. This is like one of those emails where you have to forward to other people. You may send it to ten of your closest friends. In no time at all, thousands of people will receive the email. SEO also works this way. When you have traffic coming to your website because of web searches, other people will be directed towards it.

Both Social Media Marketing and Search Engine Optimization gives you the opportunity to target the market that you are looking for. For example, you may have a website that sells popular Christian books. You can find search engines that limit the audience to readers and Christians. This is the same with Social Media Marketing. You can search individuals by finding book lovers and those of different religion affiliations.

You cannot have Social Media Marking without Search Engine Optimization; you cannot have Search Engine Optimization without Social Media Marketing. Without one or the other, your Internet Marketing success-whether you are selling products on EBay, are involved with network marketing, or are a content producer for Associated Content-will be only a dream.
