Why Some Men Have Big Breasts and 3 Solutions to Get Rid of Them

Is Breast Cancer a Threat to Men with or Without Big Breasts?

Emerald L.
Everyone knows that men produce the male sex hormone testosterone and Women produce the female sex hormone Estrogen. The high volume of testosterone produced in a man's body prohibits the growth of large breast tissue. However, there are men who produce both testosterone and estrogen. Males get an X chromosome from their mothers and a Y chromosome from their fathers. Females get 2 X chromosomes. However, there are some males, about 1 out of every 1,000 male's that get an extra X chromosome (the female chromosome). This is not inherited it happens randomly when cells form in uterus.

The XXY male produce higher levels of estrogen which in turn manifests in the growth of large breasts also known as Gynecomastia. Other characteristics of the XXY male or what is known as Klinefelter's syndrome, is having smaller genitals, is taller than their counterparts, usually having a speech problem, are more skeletal in body structure and have less hair on their bodies.

These males after going through puberty can be traumatized by having large male breasts which sometimes are uncomfortable and hurt. Social issues are inherent with this physical problem. Males can get depressed and withdraw from social networks altogether from having these obvious breasts and don't know why they have them.

Other ways Men can grow large breasts is the manifestation of obesity. Fat cells elevate estrogen levels that produce these large breasts. About 10% of all males have Gynecomastia. Side effects brought on by smoking Marijuana can produce large male breast. Other causes of gynecomastia are: chronic liver disease and using some prescription medications can cause men to have large breasts.

Men with large breasts struggle with depression, anxiety and self doubt because of their physical deformity. As young boys it is truly traumatizing having to deal with peer ridicule of your condition. People can make you feel demoralized and make you question your sexuality. Are you a boy or a girl? Breast on a man is not considered masculine. One becomes naturally self conscience when wearing clothes, of going to the beach or the pool, or of playing, for fear that other people will see your breasts.

There are three remedies for gynecomastia:

Plastic surgery with liposuction. The costs for this surgery vary from state to state, but a cost of about $10,000 is what you are looking at to invest in your body. Some breast tissue will be removed and the liposuction will vacuum out the fat and you can have a nicely contoured shape to your chest.

Prescription and non prescription medicine such as Gynexin can help to help reduce the breast tissue. Gynexin is something sold online and it claims that it works in 99% of men.

Compression garments. There are many types of compression garments and undershirts that are sold now-a-days. The company Spanx has recently come out with a new line of compression undergarments for men.

Men, let's talk about the breast test. There is no mammogram test for a man; however, about 1 in 1,000 men get breast cancer. Visual observation and self breast exam should be done every day.

There are signs you might have male breast cancer:

1. Itchy breasts

2. Changes in color of the breast or nipple.

3. Rash or skin condition on the breast.

4. A lump or scaling of the skin.

5. Dimpling or inversion of the nipple or breast tissue.

6. Discharge coming from a nipple.

What are your risk factors?

1. Check on your family history of breast cancer. It is an inherited disease as well as a random one.

2. How much radiation exposure, x-rays have you have throughout your life?

3. Having Klinefelter's syndrome predisposes you to breast cancer.

4. Hormone therapy as with prostate cancer which uses estrogen in treatment.

5. Being overweight. Remember fat cells convert androgens into estrogen which grows your breasts and
gives you breast cancer risks.

6. Excessive Alcohol and smoking

Of course the rate of male breast cancer is significantly lower than that of women. 40,000 Women die of breast cancer each year versus men's percentage of 1 in 1,000% but it is still a silent killer that men need to know about.
