Why the New Starcraft 2 Patch Changes Miss the Mark

The new Starcraft 2 game has been in need of a new patch for a long time, and SC 2 fans are about to see it hit Battle.net soon.

The new patch was recently announced by Blizzard for September, and many people are discussing the changes made to the popular RTS game.

But while the patch has made some good changes, overall, it misses some of the major complaints players have had about the game.

For the Terran side of thing, Reaper and Bunker build times were both slightly increased. The Repeaer increase is only five seconds, but five seconds means a lot in the early game. This is a good change overall is is the bunker one.

Siege Tanks have been greatly "nerfed" in the new Starcraft 2 patch as well, maintaining high damage vs. armored units but doing less to light ones. Considering the impressive splash damage Siege Tanks do and the difficulty Zerg players have getting to tanks with their many light units this is a good change as well.

But those changes are off-set by a couple of pointless ones.

First of all are the nerfs on Battlecruisers and Ultralisks. Few if any people called the two units overpowered especially considering you can't get them until the last tier of the unit tree anyway. Ultralisks were finally made useful in SC 2 after the Beta and now they will do less damage to other units. That makes them less fun to use.

Same with BC's, and one tournament player even teched up to them from the get-go in a recent game which was a fun strategy to watch. Now that they do less damage to ground units it doesn't make much sense to try such an all-in, crazy strat anymore which takes away from the fun of the game.

Protoss' Zealots come out 5 seconds later now which means that Protoss players have no choice but to get early Stalkers now in most matchups. That takes away from the unpredictability of the early game.

And Marauders' overpower nature still hasn't been addressed either.

While SC 2 will play better overall thanks to the new Starcraft 2 patch, some of the changes don't make sense and the worst ones are the ones they didn't make.
