There are many people looking to get into the mortgage field, but is that still a good idea? There has been a lot of buzz going around about the sub prime industry. Should you really still consider becoming a mortgage broker while this whole crisis is still going on? My answer to you is yes and if you give me a few minutes of your time I will tell you why. In this article, I want to explain to you why you should still become a mortgage broker even with the so call sub prime crisis going on.

Before I get started, let me bring everyone up to speed about what the sub-prime crisis actually is. In the mortgage business, there are two types of people you can lend money to. Does two type of people are people with good credit ratings and people with bad credit ratings. The people with good credit ratings fall under the category of a prime candidate. The reason they are prime candidates is because they meet the desired specifications to get a home loan. Those who don't meet the specifications or have different issues with credit are called sub-prime candidates. Here is the issue with the sub prime industry. A lot of the sub prime lenders where doing a lot of unethical things just to get people that didn't need to be in a home in one. This resulted in a lot of people's homes going into foreclosure and a lot of the sub prime companies shutting down.

So should you still become a mortgage broker in this time of crisis you ask? If sub-prime was the only way of getting a mortgage then I would say no, but since it is not I say go for it. There are so many other programs that mortgage broker's use that has nothing to do with sub-prime. For example, there are tons of government programs that can be used to get an individual into a home even if they don't have the most desirable credit score. Programs like the FHA program. This program does not go off of an individuals credit score at all, it is mostly based on the income that you make, the debts that you have and your job history. The rates are also great for those that are purchasing their first homes.

The main thing I want you to get out of this article is do not fear the sub-prime crisis if you want to become a mortgage broker. If there was no money to be made from mortgages then there would be no realtors, no builders, or no bankers. Yes you should still become a mortgage broker.
