Why Syesha Mercado Won't Win American Idol
One of the best parts of the America Idol viewing experience for is making fun of the contestants... and sometimes even the judges.
Wouldn't it be funny if one of Jason Castro's dreads fell off during a performance?
Why did Brooke White even try to dance during her performance? And I thought Seinfeld's Elaine's dancing was bad!
Why in the world did Carly Smithson wear THAT?!
What the heck is Paula Abdul trying to say?
But the American Idol who has brought me the most joy this season (as far as making fun of them) is Syesha Mercado. I didn't like Syesha from the very beginning and I absolutely hate that she's made it to the Top 3! If she thinks, for even one second, that she's the best female contestant of this season, she's got another thing coming.
In fact, the only thing that brings me comfort is knowing that there is no way that Syesha Mercado will win American Idol. Why won't she win, you ask? Oh, let me count the ways...
REASON #1 WHY SYESHA MERCADO WON'T WIN AMERICAN IDOL
Because she thinks she's a diva... and she's not. There I said it. Her voice is weak and yet she dared to attempt some of the biggest songs sung by some of the greatest divas ever. Who in their right mind is going to take a stab at some of the great Whitney Houston songs like "Saving All My Love For You" or "I Will Always Love You"? If you're going to sing the song, you better have the voice to back it up. And Syesha Mercado DOESN'T have it.
REASON #2 WHY SYESHA MERCADO WON'T WIN AMERICAN IDOL
She doesn't have an original bone in her body. Week in and week out her performances were weak knock-offs of previous performances by other artists. She never tried to put a different spin on any of her songs, like David Cook or David Archuleta are known for doing. She even went as far as stealing the dance moves from Tina Turner in her performance of Proud Mary!
REASON #3 WHY SYESHA MERCADO WON'T WIN AMERICAN IDOL
She's fake. There is nothing that stands out about Syesha Mercado, so she took to copying things from other contestants. In one of her performances, she came out in her bare feet. Could it be that she was vying for a "You're a star!" comment from Simon Cowell by copying the exact same thing that Leona Lewis had done in her breakthrough performance of "Summertime" on the X-Factor?
Or how about the way that she broke out in tears after Randy said he didn't like her performance of "A Change is Gonna Come"? Both David Cook and Brooke White have played the crying card - but only because they had genuine reasons for doing it. How dare Syesha compare her experience on American Idol to something as huge as the Civil Rights movement!
REASON #4 WHY SYESHA MERCADO WON'T WIN AMERICAN IDOL
Her hair is scary. When Syesha Mercado's hair isn't straightened it's just plain scary. It looks like she went and stuck her finger in a socket right before going on on stage. No way is America going to want a girl with horrible hair as their next American Idol.

And the last reason why Syesha Mercado won't win American Idol? Because Simon Cowell doesn't want her to...
In the May 9, 2008 issue of Entertainment Weekly, Simon Cowell was quoted as saying, "She's got no chance. There's a ceiling and she can never rise above that."

I find you very ingnorant, your comments regarding syesha's hair were very derogatory . Your implying that she isn't good enough and one of the main reasons is her hair. Her hair is natural in the state God intended it to be, how can you challenge what she is born with, better yet that makes her even stronger because it shows she is proud of who she is. Your stuck in high school. Nothing you siad in this article has any substance and your a miserable hater. My advice....go skydiving with a book bag.

Jessica - I don't see how anything I said was racist. I hated Jason Castro's hair, does that make me a racist too? I would've said the same thing about a girl of any other race with horribly frizzy hair. It was just a comment, an observation and MY opinion and hardly worth getting worked up about.
Devon - you think I'm crazy for liking David Archuleta and I think you're crazy for liking Syesha. That's the fun of American Idol... but when it comes down to it, remember it's just a TV show. :)

The mere fact you said David Archuleta has put different spins on his songs made this article complete trash, he has the same song type every week (one ballad after another), he has even done the same exact moves every episdoe (eyes closed, licks lips, one hand out, and one foot forward)!
I'll agree that David Cook is orginal..but Archie not so much....and the fact that you said you enjoy making FUN of Syesha shows that your not judging her based on her performances but your already preconceived notions about her. Syesha has grown the most out of the remaining contestants...shes not only a singer but also a perfromer (which is a must for mainstream artist in todays industry)!!
