An organization benefits by not having to pay you the full salary and they also don't give you any benefits when you are a temporary employee.
The company at the same time will be able to evaluate your performance to see if there is a fit and if you have what it takes to become a contributing member on a long term basis. Quite a few employees make the transition from part time to full using this same technique. If a full time position comes available you will have a jump on your competition. The company will not have to wonder about your performance because they will have first hand knowledge of what you are able to accomplish. Most companies want to hire someone that they have knowledge of rather than an unknown commodity.
A temporary position allows you a chance to observe how all the other departments function within an organization. You can then take a look to see if there are openings or positions within the other departments that you feel better suited for.
Of course if you don't think one particular company is going to be a fit for you there is always the possibility of seeking out another temporary assignment with the agency. Sometimes you have to explore three or four different opportunities until you find the one that best fits your needs and will help you to meet your goals and objectives in the long run. Work is always more fun when you enjoy the work, the company, and your associates. Hopefully the company you choose will have some rewarding, fulfilling, and challenging work for you to accomplish.
All companies are looking for talented individuals that can help them solve problems. If you can help a company save money, time, resources and develop people then they will more than likely want to bring you on board. If you can show a company how to increase sales, cut costs and expenses and at the same time capture market share from your competitors then you are well on your way to success.
