Why Text Messaging is so Popular

Lee VanAmee
There are always different ways to communicate and choosing what is the best to use and when, can be tricky sometimes. Even though email, texting and twitting are quick ways to get a point across, if you use your patience you can personalize these means of getting your point across, also. If you know yourself and what it is you always want to convey to everyone "peace out" or "love bunny" you can make sure you incorporate these with all of your messages.

Sometimes, in good times and in bad, you really need a face to face meeting with someone, there is no doubt. But, I think we are really proving now that the day to day happenings and events can totally be conveyed by texting.

I find myself in many situations where I don't want people to hear my phone conversations for whatever reasons, I am sure you can think of your own list, too. Here are just a few examples I can rattle off the top of my head where I use texting the most:

Public commute, plane, train, bus, etc
Hospital
Doctor's Office
Court
Church
Shopping in a loud place
At a concert
Sporting event (sitting on the other teams side)
Daycare
Restaurants
Someone's home that I don't know
Client's office
Park
When I have my ear buds plugged in
Planning a surprise event
When I am just giving someone hard data

When I hear other people talking on their cell phones (you really cannot get away from them if you want to half the time) I do not want to hear what they are saying. Not just because it may be personal or they are giving out account numbers and phone numbers and not even realizing it; but, I don't want to know! I really have my own calls to take care of and I find the other people to be distracting to say the least. We all know that you are much more animated when you "talk" on the phone than when texting; and the volume on your voice gets raised even if you try to keep it down, it is the nature of the beast.

I think if everyone could get the hang of texting and not look at it in such a negative light; that more and more people would accept it as a very viable means to communicate most of your usual day to day communications. When you are driving your car = NO. When you are commuting and someone else is driving = YES.
