In book of Acts, the bible tells us that Christians were told "to wait for the promise from the Father", Jesus said. The promise was the Holy Spirits coming. In chapter 2, The bible tells us that the Christians had gathered on the Day of Pentecost. Pentecost was a feast that had gathered Jews and Gentiles from all over. Many came to the feast from different places and spoke different languages.
The book of Acts tells us they where all in one place and one accord when the Holy Spirit came and filled all the believers. It was such a great event that not anyone at the feast came away unaffected. The house where the believers had gathered could not contain them and they rushed out into the streets speaking in the languages of many people there. These same timid believers who were hiding away for fear of the Romans had such an experience with Holy Spirits coming that they could not contain it.
Since the Holy Spirit is already here why is there not this same thing taking place in our churches and America today? The answer is written in Acts chapter 2. The bible says they were all in "one place and one accord". The answer is simple its unity. So why don't we have unity amongst believers today?
If church history doesn't prove anything look at the churches today. We can't worship together today because we can't get along. The black man and the white man dislike each other. We fight over every little thing. We split hairs over doctrines. We will not worship with somebody who does not believe the same things we do.
We want revival but we don't know what we are asking for. Don't you know that if God brought revival that all the hurting and refuse will come into our churches. How could you possibly sit together with someone who has not bathed in a month? Think about all the people the Spirit would draw who know nothing of church tradition and have performed every sinful act known to man. How could you extend your love to them? Do you really love people or is that just what you say cause your a believer?
Makes you think doesn't it? We pray for revival and we can't even get along. We have too many prejudices for God to bring revival. If you want revival God needs to start with you. As David wrote in the psalms "see if there is any wicked way in me".
The answer to why there is no revival is written in the bible its been there all along. I am a sinner saved by grace I am no better than that poor guy lying in the gutter. If we want revival we must not only get along but ask for forgiveness from each other put aside our differences and let God restore us and this great nation.
