Why I Think Jennifer Aniston is the Most Overrated Celebrity in the World
The Making of a Future Has Been
"What's her name? I asked
Who?" my friend answered
The girl from FRIENDS?" I answered, hoping she would know.
"Which one?" she asked.
"The blond?" I answered. My friend gave me a nasty look.
"There are two blonde's in the show, Joanna."
"I know that," I shot back. "Now, help me. What the hell is her name?"
"Who?" my friend asked.
"The girl in FRIENDS!!" I answered. "She had a baby on the show."
I then remembered the two blondes having babies on the show as I tried physically to keep my friend from leaving the room in frustration. I bribed her with a donut and she remained where she was.
"Jennifer Anniston!" I shouted. "That's her name." Then all was well with the world and we kept on eating our donuts. (Crispy Crème by the way)
This conversation remained in my memory for a long time to come. I began to think; will she be remembered thirty or forty years from now? Sure, people will remember the show FRIENDS, but will Jennifer Anniston "The Actress" become "What's her name from FRIENDS?"
I think yes. I am not trying to be mean and nasty gang, but let's face it she is a mediocre actress who only made it big because she was on FRIENDS. Before FRIENDS she was in that God-awful film Leprechaun where she played a pretty, sweet, girl next door type girl. Sound familiar? People? She was playing herself!!! That is all she knows how to play: Jennifer Anniston. She played it in FRIENDS, she played it in "The Break UP," Rumor has it," etc. She has played the same role in all her movies.
There is only one time where she went out of her secure box and played someone totally opposite, "Good Girl." I love that film. It was that film where I saw the potential in her. I thought she would go far; instead she kept taking these terrible movies that people wait for on DVD or worse wait until they go on cable. (You know I'm right, when was the last time any of you had actually gone out and paid with your hard earned money to the theater to see one of her movies?) (You're LYING!!!)
I just about fell out of my chair in a dead faint when they announced Jennifer Anniston was going to be a guest on a talk show that interviewed film actors. Film actor? Jennifer Anniston? Did I miss something? She's done like four or five films before and after FRIENDS. She's a T.V. actress! Is it out of sympathy? Brad Pitt jilting her for Angelina Jolie? Do you really blame him?
Anyway, this rant is just to say that I wish everyone would stop going on about Jennifer Anniston. She is a good actress who should take film roles that challenge her to be someone else other than a carbon copy of herself. There, my rant is finished. I'll be expecting comments of people cursing me out, and berating me about how wonderfully brilliant Jennifer Anniston truly is in about an hour or so. Just remember to send all the hate comments in care of Timothy Sexton or Barefoot. (Only kidding) BRING IT ON!!!

Post a CommentJennifer Anniston is not the only overrated talent around...I've never understood the enthusiasm for John Meyer, who mumbles and drones his way through his music. And what about Kathrine Heigl she's average at best. Now Bruno Mars is a new talent and one of the best I've seen in years .
She is okay, but certainly not the best. I wonder too why there is so much fuss over her and some others.

I love her as Rachel. She does seemed to be type-cast though. That's why she always seems the same in everything she does. I think that she can't really prove herself to do different characters if she doesn't get offered them. And we don't really know what's coming her way or what isn't.
I want to speak not on her personal life but her as the artist, the performer. When you were offered opportunities like she (Jennifer) had, you would also grab those while it is still hot and you don't chose what roles or what movies you want. How could you maintain your generous spendthrift lifestyle if you wait for another year for another million offer just because the movie is poorly made, and doesn't fit your taste? Definitely she will act and play herself most of the time in her films because she is an average normal human being. Meryl Streep might carry different character roles very well, but do you think you want to see it most of the time? And is this the performance that most people would want to see? We are all alike my high points might be your low points your high points might be Jennifer's low points. Actually, thougt I have not watched Friends, my impression on her is great. I watchedthe movie "Derailed", she acted great though the moive did not have much ways for her to showher talents.Just look at the scene she was killed, her eyes shows regrets and begging for forgivness from Owen. I admire her. Do you think it is easy to get over the betrayal of your loved one? But she made it! She stayed cool and just focus on making herself a better one! Is it fair for people judging her no matter she is sad or strong? Ifshe focus on the past love affair, there will be people asking her to be realistic and face what she deserves. When she is recovering and focus on career and movies, people will sayshe put career over family. But what crimes is a woman commit when she focus on other aspect of life (career) when her marraige is gone? Befair! Be considerate!
I agree -- Jennifer Aniston is not that great of an actress. I do think she's getting typecast and well, she does want to get her name out there. So, there's that. But, in reading Tara Corea's comment below, I don't think it's fair to compare to Angelina Jolie. I don't think she's as great an actress either. I mean, Mr. & Mrs. Smith was garbage. Life or Something Like It? Anyone remember that movie? Yeah, I think that was Jolie's Leprechaun. Any other movie she acts in seems like she's forcing it. The only reason Girl, Interrupted was a great role for her is because she was acting like herself. Aniston may not be remembered 30, 40 years down the road, if that's the argument, but how many in hollywood would be? I don't think she's as overrated as Lindsey Lohan, or Angelina Jolie herself. Come on, people!
So what if she isnt a typical Hollywood starlet! The point is is is a medicore actress! Good Lord does she suck!
