Why Thinking Day is Important to Girl Scouts

Todd Hicks
Every year on February 22, World Thinking Day is held. What is it? It is a day in which Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world come together to end extreme poverty and hunger. By reading this article, you will learn why Thinking Day should be important to junior Girl Scouts.

First Reason: Poverty is a moral and social injustice. It is not right for anyone to live in a personal condition in which he or she has trouble living comfortably and finds it hard to get an adequate amount of food on a sustained basis. It is up to all of us to do what we can to eliminate this problem.

Second Reason: The kids who are involved in the movement become useful. As they participate in this project, they learn how to help those who are needy and less fortunate than them.

Third Reason: There is a serious need for awareness to be raised for any major issue. By holding this event and seeking assistance from society, the girls are bringing attention to the plight of the poor.

Fourth Reason: This is a splendid opportunity for them to feel better about themselves. It is natural to experience a significant sense of personal meaning when you display compassion and generosity.

Fifth Reason: They are in a strong position to develop a great set of marketable skills. By raising funds, selling things, assisting with marketing efforts and doing other things that are related to their cause, they are learning skills they can use to prosper in the workforce.

Sixth Reason: This is a character-building exercise. You can become stronger emotionally and socially when you focus on doing things that are beneficial to you and others.

Seventh Reason: They are setting a good example for others to follow. The actions we take can have an influence on what others do.

Eighth Reason: They are able to make a good impression on the people who are important to them. By helping out, they are likely to make their family members proud.

Ninth Reason: The existence of poverty and hunger is a drain. It can wipe out any sense of dignity those who are inflicted have in addition to making them less able to be productive, function well and contribute to society's success. Furthermore, it is degrading to all of us.

You have learned the importance of Thinking Day for junior Girl Scouts.
