Why is it Time to Stop Wasting so Much Time on Facebook?

Karen Barnes
More times than not, I have a hard time of coming up with topics for articles. When I find myself in this position as a writer, I wind up spending more time on Facebook playing games than I do coming up with topics or researching topic ideas I already have.

The amount of wasted time spent doing this could have been used more productively on honing my writing skills and writing articles. This is one of the downsides of working from home. I am not talking about spending one to two minutes between articles playing games, I am talking about spending countless minutes that add up to hours of goofing off when I should be working these days.

I figured that I spent at least four hours a day playing My Vineyard. Four hours of wasted time that I could have written up to eight articles in that time.

Then there is the Games section on Facebook. This part of Facebook has probably close to a 100 games if not more. I spend probably another two hours playing those games. Again I could have written up to four articles during that time.

I wind up spending another hour or two chatting with people on my friends list. Another fair amount of time I could have spent writing up to another four articles.

That's seven to eight hours I have lost during the day from being lazy and not very social. The amount of articles that could have been written in that time could be at least 16 to 20 depending on the topic and how much research I need to do.

In my case, providing all the articles are submitted for upfront payments, I could earn up to a $100 a day from writing. This does not include any page view bonuses from any site since those will be earned whether I write or not. The page view bonuses don't pay the bills in some people's minds, but they do put the food on the table for the month.

It is now time for me to flip the amount of time I spend on Facebook with the amount of time I write. Even on a day where I have other things I need to do that takes me away from home, I could manage to make $30 a day from payments from my articles I submit for upfront payments.

So this stay at home mom who is also a work at home mom, will be spending less time on Facebook and more time earning the type of money I know I can in the same amount of time I spend on this social networking site.
