Why Tom Hanks is the Sexiest Person in the World

We all know him. We all love him. We really do. A fine actor, a great person, I've never heard anyone say a negative word toward Tom hanks. He is not perfect by any means, and that's what great about him as well. Although he isn't a perfect person, his flaws are not as bad as others. He isn't a drunk or a cokehead, he isn't a cheater or a wife beater, he isn't a deadbeat Dad or a troublesome actor on set.

He can be silly, serious, fun, intense, but he is always classy. Classy and full of joy, willing to talk with anyone and be that regular enjoyable guy you see walking on the street every day with a smile on his face. That is what makes him sexy. It makes him attractive to everyone on the planet. Not just as a sexual being but as a person who you'd love to just sit down and have a coffee or a beer or a glass of wine with.

This man has been in the film and television industry for nearly 30 years now. He started out in comedy, playing a man who dressed like a woman to keep an apartment in the failed but funny comedy series Bosom Buddies. The production of the show wasn't very good but Tom Hanks became a break-out star. After a few more appearances on television in the early 1980's, he was signed on to do his first starring role in a feature film called Splash.
Those who knew of Bosom Buddies had already fallen in love with Mr. Hanks because, besides his talent, he was just simply a good guy and a likeable person. You can watch the screen in Splash and smile the whole time because when you see Tom Hanks it's like seeing your friend or buddy in a movie. You think, "Oh, a familiar, wonderful and talented face!" It never fails. No matter what kind of role he's playing, he is always recognizable as the person the audience wants to relate to.

After Splash Tom was a full-on star. People heard his name and knew who he was. People smiled when they talked about him and still do to this day. Not to pass by the fact that he's a cut man. The film catapulted him into a comedy career on film. Although most of the films were not as funny, we still went to see them because of Tom Hanks. He embodies the word movie star. If he is in a film, it will be seen.
Bachelor Party and The Money Pit claimed Tom more status as a comedic genius as the straight man. We all know it's hard to be the funny person in the movie, but it's just as hard to be the straight man who is just as funny. He does it well. And then, Tom Hanks got big around the world because of a movie that will always be associated as the first time he was recognized as a true star, the move Big. It starred Hanks as this kid who made a wish at the carnival to be bigger. It changed him into a 10-year old boy trapped in a 30-year old body. He played it perfectly because I think that's what Tom Hanks is.

As he got older, Tom got more roles in romantic comedies. He had a magical run with Meg Ryan - Joe Versus the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail - that spread into the 90's. But after Sleepless in Seattle, Tom must have taken a turn with the seriousness of the films he picked to work on. Tom did a film called Philadelphia about a gay man with AIDS, the first ever main film character who was gay and who had AIDS. It was the first major studio film to actually discuss the wide spreading disease. Tom won his first Oscar for this film and continued to advocate AIDS research afterwards.

Then came the quintessential Tom Hanks film, the one that confirmed his superstardom, his ability as an actor, and his ability to carry a movie from beginning to end that would bring you to tears. In 1994 Forrest Gump premiered and it was the biggest box office smash Tom had done yet. This solidified his likeability in the industry and with the audiences. He was either perfect for the role or he made the role perfect. Tom began to produce television shows about space and war in the later 1990's. He had gotten a real taste of the space program with the film Apollo 13. After showing that he didn't shy away from comedy just because he was able to do drama.

He was producing, directing, writing and hosting tv shows on the space program. But acting wasn't over for Tom. He did a series of darker stories in which you can see that he is does not have to do comedy to be a good actor. Hanks and Spielberg got together and did a few masterpieces. When Saving Private Ryan came out in 1998, it was the film that moviegoers and critics alike could not stop raving about. After that Hanks followed up with serious films like The Green Mile and Road To Perdition, two of his greatest films to date. When Catch Me If You Can came out, Hanks knew he'd found a friend in Spielberg. They followed with the smaller cuter The Terminal, which although it wasn't well -received, was a nice family film.

Hanks still lends his voice to animated films like The Polar Express and Cars but also will do films like the controversial The Da Vinci Code. The greatest thing about Tom Hanks is that he doesn't shy away from controversy and picks stories that really mean something to him whether it be a romantic comedy, an war movie, an epic drama or radical comedy. His talent in acting carried over to his talent in producing and directing. When you put Tom in a film, no matter how controversial it is, it will be more well-received than if he wasn't in it. The way he humanizes the characters he plays and remains a level-headed down-to earth guy with such a great family and a circle of films, makes him the most attractive man in the entire world.
