Restaurant owners simply state that servers make way above the minimum wage because of their hourly tips? This is NOT always true? Especially, if you work for a U.S.A. company like "Waffle House". At night time, or the second shift, business is so slow that if any of these restaurant servers see a customer within one hour, they consider themselves "lucky!"
This one particular U.S.A. restaurant company called "Waffle House" ironically pays their second shift servers each week up to the minimum wage price because of federal standards, all employee's must make at least $7.25 per hour, because business is so slow, these servers can not possibly make the minimum wage requirement, thus in return paying them the difference on their weekly paychecks in the form of cash.
Companies like Golden Coral and Ryan's Steak house, will most likely have this same affect regarding their servers, because most of the customers only leave a $1.00 tip per hour stay or less, depending on how many tables they are allowed per shift. These (2) two U.S.A. particular restaurants do NOT estimate server tips based on sales, because these servers do not bring out the food to the customers or receive payment of any form.
Ironically, most restaurant customers automatically think that these servers have got this "NEW increase in pay with the minimum increase on July 24, 2009?" Leaving them with less money regarding their tips. "This will most likely create a NEW dilemma for our new 2009 president Barack Obama to contend with?" Will this NEW 2009 U.S. president honestly care about these $2.13 per hour restaurant servers?" Or will he simply pass it along as tho nothing ever happened for American employee's on this time and date in history?"
$2.13 per hour is okay if these servers make as much as $6.00-8.00 dollars per hour in tips? Restaurant owners and managers will probably start searching and counting these servers on a daily basis to find out if they "actually" made their minimum wage requirement as stated by federal and state laws, which will create more problems for "hard working and friendly restaurant servers".
Internet news has also stated that certain restaurant servers will be terminated on site, because they are just NOT simply living up to the new standards of the federal wage of $7.25 per hour. Intelligent and smart restaurant owners have already figured out a way to keep these employee's from receiving unemployment benefits, which increases their quarterly taxes.
