In addition,the American remake of this movie was based on a German film of the same name.

I like this remake because I like musicals. In addition, I love Julie Andrews. When I first saw it, I was only 11 years old. I like this film because it is both funny and romantic. Moreover, I lie the complicated plot of a woman pretending to be a man, who is pretending to be a woman. This movie shows Julie Andrews acting range. This film also pushes the envelope because it deals with sexual identity and cross dressing. Julie Andrews and James Garner have great chemistry in this film too.

This is my favorite American remake of a international film because it has good musical numbers. I also found it funny that Julie Andrews could act in a classic family film and also act in a movie so different from a Disney classic. I marveled at her acting range. I like this film because I enjoy movies that have many layers to them. This is one is the most layered movies that I have ever seen. This movie could have gotten bogged down with all of its layers. However, the movie doesn't get lost in translation. In other words, I like Victor Victoria because it makes sense as an American film. It is a good piece of American cinema.
