Why You Need to Visit Amsterdam This Summer

Take a "Trip" to the Netherlands' Capitol

John Walton
Amsterdam is the capitol city in the Netherlands. It is known for its beautiful houses with calm canals running throughout. Amsterdam is not a large city but there is plenty to see and do, it has a progressive and innovative style about it that is sure to make anyone feel at home.

Getting around in Amsterdam shouldn't prove to be a problem, if you wanted you could just walk and take boats across the canals. Many of the locals ride bicycles, but they do have a train system if you'd like to visit any of the surrounding area. To get to your hotel they have hotel shuttle buses, and they also have taxi's available although they are a bit more expensive.

You could spend a whole lifetime in Amsterdam, the friendly people, progressive thinking, and beautiful environment will soon have you wishing you never had to return home. Unfortunately, it's fairly hard to become a resident of Amsterdam, so you should make the most of your time there. Visiting some of the highlights of Amsterdam should be enough to please any tourist.

The Cannabis Coffee Shops Whether or not you've taken part in the smoking of the wonderful herb cannabis, you simply have to try it while your there. Its perfectly safe, no one has ever died from it, and its not habit forming. So you wont get back to the States and start making shady drug deals. Once you get into one of the many coffee houses and start smoking you will thank me.

Canal Boat Ride The canal boat ride is the best way to view the city. It only costs about twelve dollars for an hour long trip and its a great way to get caught up in the atmosphere of Amsterdam, see the amazing city, and meet some cool people. If you want to do something special with your lady, they also offer a candlelight tour at night , which includes dinner and lots of wine.

Van Gogh Museum This museum is, as the title would suggest, dedicated to the work of Van Gogh. Not only does the museum showcase his art, but also his "psychological development" . The museum is a trip through the life, mind, and work of Van Gogh.

The Red Light District A huge tourist attraction, the red light district is perfectly legal despite what goes on there. Make sure you make your visit during the day, and with other people. Avoid the District during the night, and always be on your guard for pick pocketing. One precaution however, do not take any photographs. They really, really don't like that, seriously.

Shrooms I know I may have stretched your adventurous side to the limit already for some of you with the Cannabis, but magic mushrooms are legal in Amsterdam as well. Now i know your thinking that they will drive you mad and make you hallucinate for days but that's simply not true. Psilocybin, the active chemical in mushrooms, is actually rated as safer than aspirin. If your going to go to Amsterdam you may as well try all they have to offer right? The good shops with Shrooms are incredibly professional. They tell you the correct dosage to take, what you should expect from the trip, and which trip is right for you, so what are you waiting for!

Vondelpark This is the perfect spot for a stroll, a picnic, a lunch, or a bike ride. There are a number of restaurants inside the park, and the cinema museum and even a bar is also located near the center of the park. Check locally for museum and restaurant operating hours and closing time for the park.
