Known famously as being the 'City of Sculptures,' Resistencia is one of the most uniquely artistic cities in all of Argentina. Although it isn't considered a major tourist or vacation spot, those interested in what it does have to offer will find Resistencia to be one of the most intriguing and special cities that Argentina has to offer. The city serves as a crossroads coming into and out of Paraguay, and is situated on a tributary of the Parana, offering a pleasant riverside view.

Due to its irreplaceable and convenient location, Resistencia is one of Argentina's major sources of business and processing. Businesses found within Resistencia vary from textiles to processed food to refining of metals and leather. This makes a rather interesting contrast with its artistic side, noted in the accurately descriptive nickname City of Sculptures. Due to these various factors, Resistencia has rightfully earned the title of capital of its province, Chaco.

Granted, there is not much to cater to tourists in Resistencia unless you care about sculptures. Resistencia is first and foremost a city for business contrasted by its sculptural decorations. But if you like sculptures, you'll fall in love with the hundreds of different kinds that are part of the city environment, in all sorts of styles from religious to abstract and everything in between. Despite being only a minor tourist spot due to its niche focus, Resistencia nonetheless boasts a helpful tourist office that can help you find every last one of those statues if you're interested in seeing them all. One of the most fascinating aspects of the city is that it has worked its taxation system into encouraging further sculpture displays: people who place highly visible statues in front of their homes may enjoy a year-long exemption from taxes.

Since driving is a bit risky and aggressive in Argentina, to get to Resistencia you will most likely opt for public transportation instead. The buses are more than adequate, and a Chaco-Corrientes bus service will get you to the famous Resistencia City of Sculptures with no hassle. Feel free to take pictures of the one of a kind sculptures while you're visiting, but try not to be too obnoxious about recording those Argentina vacation memories! And be respectful of the art as well; the sculptures are priceless works of art that the residents of the city are very proud of, and to treat them callously would be unforgivable.
