The Island abounds in natural beauty. There are a multitude of parks to check out so you can witness the Island's beauty firsthand.
One such park is Fay Bainbridge State Park, with its almost 17 acres of natural surroundings. If you are in the market for a sandy beach, this is the place. The beach can provide a relaxing walk while also offering some driftwood to sit on. This is the only Island park to offer overnight camping facilities. Another park worth mentioning is found at Fort Ward State Park. This is a large 130+ acre day use only park. There is a boat launch, picnic areas, and walking trails. Of particular interest are the concrete gun emplacements with descriptions. This is a great place to go for some time to simply stroll around and take in the scenery. A great place for bird watching is found at Blakely Harbor Park. This park combines both waterfront and woods to make for beautiful scenery. It is a must see. I have spotted seals and a multitude of birds here. The park is quiet and provides for respite from the everyday hectic pace.
There also is a skateboard park, baseball park, and other parks boasting different activities. In fact, there are too many to mention in this short article. Variety does exist here at Bainbridge Island, Washington.
As far as culture goes, visitors have their choice. Music, theatre, and art galleries (to name a few) are all available for the choosing here. Let us not forget the assortment of retail establishments here on Bainbridge Island, Washington. From second-hand clothing stores to elegant jewelry stores, there is something for everyone here. And, they are easy to get to. Many stores are located along the downtown strip. This makes for easy access once you begin your stroll.
There is so much to see and do on Bainbridge Island, this article only touches the surface. Take a short ferry ride over from Seattle and spend a day visiting. You will be glad you did.
