For over ten thousand years, visitors have been coming to Estes Park, Colorado to enjoy the scenery, wildlife and entertainment. Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest surround the village of Estes Park, Colorado.

For those wanting to relax and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere, you can enjoy easy hikes, scenic drives, wildlife watching, mountain tours to name a few. For the more adventurous visitors, you can go hiking and climbing, fishing, skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, river rafting, boathing and hunting. You can also choose more traditional activities such as golf, tennis and swimming.

In the Estes Park area, you will find a variety of shops, restaurants, attractions, entertainment and special events, or you could take a day trip to a nearby attraction only a few hours away.

One of the favorite things to do is to watch the wildlife in action. You can watch for bighorn sheep in the narrows of the Big Thompson canyon as you go to the flatlands to shop the Outlet Mall or see the Budweiser Clydesdales. You can also drive through Estes Park and see the Elk as they make their way through the town. Estes Park is a hub of scenic drives to interesting places.

Some other sites to see around the Estes Park region include Trail Ridge Road, Old Fall River Road, Bear Lake Road, Peak to Peak Scenic Byway and Grand Lake. While driving down these roads, you will come across the most breath taking views.

Summer is the prime season for Estes Park. Fall is absolutely wonderful. The aspen leaves turn golden, the elk bugle in the meadows (and golf courses), the bighorn sheep butt heads on the mountain slopes, the sky is bright blue, the air is crisp and fall festivals enliven the town. Winter is the prime wildlife watching season. Also snowshoeing, skiing, sledding, hiking, birding, fireside trysts, blue skies, sunshine and quiet. Spring brings our biggest snows, mild temperatures, wildflowers, new fawns, elk calves, bighorn lambs.

Estes Park is the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Once you visit the area, it will be a vacation spot you will want to return to again and again. The variety of scenery, wildlife, recreation and attractions provide a destination for the entire family.

Nice article! I had to read it because my family and I went on our vacation this past summer at Estes Park. We stayed in a log cabin and enjoyed the quiet. It was just what we needed.
