Looking for small town charm and tradition? Look no further than Moultrie, Georgia. Located 200 miles southwest of Atlanta, this friendly town of under 16,000 is an inviting paradise for those seeking an escape from big city life.

Moultrie (pronounced "mole tree") was named for General William Moultrie, a Revolutionary War hero, and later, governor of his home state of South Carolina. Whether you visit for a day or week, this warm-hearted town offers something for every member of the family.

Golfing. It's always "tee-time" in Moultrie. For the golfer, the area boasts three beautifully landscaped eighteen-hole courses: Sunset Country Club, The Barrens, and Roger's Gardens. Sunset, in Moultrie, is a private club featuring a full array of amenities, including fishing, tennis, swimming, a fully stocked pro shop, and a restaurant/lounge.
Roger's Gardens, in Moultrie and open to the public, is a relaxing, yet basic 18 holes. The Barrens is a public golf course located in nearby Doerun.

The Colquitt County Arts Center. Located in the former Moultrie High School, this amazing facility offers year round activities for young and old alike in music, dance, theatre, literary, visual and the performing arts. In addition, the center hosts the "Festival on the Square", a delightful showcase of the Arts, every April.

Moss Farms Diving. Named after a famous World War II combat pilot, Moose Moss, the facility boasts several national and international champion divers who have utilized its program and services. In addition, the state-of-the-art facility hosts numerous local, state, national, and international diving meets. In addition, the Moose Moss International Diving Competition is held every summer, in June or July.

The small southwest Georgia town is well known for its divers. Recently, six local divers were named high school All-Americans by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association.

Spence Field. Located just outside Moultrie, this former military base hosts some of the best outdoor entertainment anywhere. During the third week in October, Spence Field hosts the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo, the premier farm show in North America. Here, over 300,000 from around the globe visit over 1,000 exhibits during this event. Not just for farmers, the expo offers something for everyone - including quality crafts, delicious food, and interesting exhibits.

Twice a year, in Spring and Fall, the Calico Arts & Crafts Show comes to Spence Field, offering the bargain hunter the finest handmade items found anywhere. In March, the Southern Wildlife and Outdoor Exposition arrives and is a must for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Reed Bingham State Park. You owe it to yourself to leave the problems of the world behind with a visit to this 1,625 acre park. Reed Bingham features a 375 acre park ideal for boating or fishing and a nature trail. In addition, the park offers campgrounds, swimming, biking, and miniature golf.

Museum of Colquitt County History. Discover the past with a visit to this unique museum, depicting early life in Moultrie and Colquitt County. Free to visit and maintained by volunteers, the museum offers a wonderful combination of special exhibits and permanent displays. One of the most popular exhibits is the Colquitt County Sports Hall of Fame.

Museum Hours are Fridays and Saturdays: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sundays: 2:00 -5:00 p.m., so plan ahead.

    Moultrie is an awesome place to live I have lived here for 20 years. Everyone here is downhome friendly. A lot of us stay in touch with http://www.moultrienow.com a social networking site that allows you to keep in touch with friends and local events. They also have Free games and live video chatting so you can talk with your friends face to face whenever you like.
