If you're planning on taking a vacation in San Diego, you are guaranteed to have many places to see and even more things to do! San Diego is a city that has small town appeal, but with many attractions. With so many places to go, every member of the family will each have a unique experience.

If you're the type of person who loves the ocean and sunshine (and who doesn't?), there are plenty of beaches in San Diego that you can visit. One of the main beaches is Mission Beach. Just off Highway 8 West, Mission Beach is home to the Historic Belmont Park with a roller coaster, bumper cars, a family arcade, and a myriad of places to eat. If you're a surfer, you'll call it Heaven! Mission Beach is one of the favorite beaches to go to because of all the activity and people watching. Mission Beach can get pretty crowded, especially during the holidays and summer time when many people come for vacation.

When you're not at the beach enjoying the ocean waves you can visit one of the many theme parks that San Diego is famous for. You can visit Shamu at Sea World, see the animals at the San Diego Zoo, check out San Diego Wild Animal Park, or stay cool at Knott's Berry Farm's Soak City USA.

For those of you who love shopping, San Diego has a plethora of shopping centers, regular malls, and outlet malls. Fashion Valley Mall is probably the biggest mall in San Diego with major department stores like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy's, and JCPenney. Bloomingdale's has just opened, so you'll get a little bit of New York flavor in the mix. You'll also find many big name retailers at this two-story outdoor mall. While you're shopping, you may want to take a break and eat at PF Chang's, The Cheesecake Factory, or one of the many eateries in the food court. Also, a new mall has opened in the southern part of the county, Otay Ranch Towne Center.

If you want to be adventurous, why not cross the border into Mexico and enjoy some margaritas and lobsters in Rosarito? The town is about twenty minutes from the International border and you can take a cab there for about $20 (U.S.)

These are just a few of the many things to do in San Diego when you're on vacation. With so many sights to see, you'll need at least a week here to thoroughly enjoy the whole city!

I like San Diego. My cousin works at the zoo as a senior reptile keeper. Plus, San Diego has this awesome Mexican place "Alcopoco" I think it was called.
