Victoria, a town on the southern point of Vancouver Island, has been a hot spot for tourism. For the people who have already visited, they don't need to wonder why because they already know. All one has to do is notice the quirky buildings, parks, museums, lakes, boats, wilderness, and the animals that Victoria has to offer. If you ever happen to make your way up to this island, do make sure to check out the following attractions that Victoria has.

My favorite spot is the Beacon Hill Park and its children's farm zoo which have a number of farm animals ranging from big to small. There are alpacas, a miniature horse and donkey, African pygmy goats. Sheltand sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, pot-bellied pigs, finches, ducks, peacocks, chickens and other critters to meet and pet. Once you are finished with interacting with the farm animals, you can wander through the park and admire the rich variety of flowers, plants, trees, and ponds.

The Butchart Gardens has fifty-five acres of amazing floral displays, offering gorgeous views as you stroll along the paths, fountains, streams and ponds. This stunning collection of gardens has been enthralling its visitors for more than 100 years now. It is known that the Queen of England, along with Prince Edward, William, and Harry, has wandered down the very paths of the Butchard Gardens several times in the past.

One has to visit the place known as the greatest little show on earth, which is Victoria's very own Miniature World. Which displays miniature historical events, fantasy lands, Victorian dollhouses, circuses, and the future frontiers of space! Adults and children both will be amazed and impressed by this little treasure that resides right around the corner of the Empress Hotel.

Victoria has several exceptional museums, rated among the very best in North America, including the Royal British Columbia Museum. Its special exhibitions greatly contribute to its international acclaim and have included Empires Beyond the Great Wall: The Heritage of Genghis Khan; Leonardo da Vinci: Scientist, Inventor, Artist; Dragon Bones: When Dinosaurs Ruled China; and Eternal Egypt: Masterworks of Ancient Art from The British Museum.

There are various additional attractions to check out such as the Craigdarroch Castle Historic House Museum, Royal London Wax Museum, the Butterfly Gardens, National Geographic IMAX Theater, Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center, and the Victoria Bug Zoo among many others. There are also things to do for free such as visiting the various parks, beaches, lakes, and hiking spots that Victoria offers.

In addition, there are also incredible spots up the island that one must visit, such as the Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park which is a luxuriously forested sanctuary that is without a doubt one of the most remarkable wild places on Vancouver Island. The park is home to some of the world's largest spruce trees, some reaching heights in excess of 85 meters and living for 800 years or more. There are also ancient, gnarled cedars that are estimated to be well over one thousand years old. Among these trees are a diverse variety of flora and fauna possible only in an ecosystem that has remained undisturbed for hundreds of years. There are several hiking trials in the valley providing access to many of the park's notable natural features.

As you can see after reading this article that Victoria and Vancouver Island in general has so much to offer. One would be only so lucky to be able to visit and witness the majestic beauty this island holds. If you ever decide to explore Canada, Victoria is a must!

Victoria and Vancouver Island take pride in their Native and British heritage and culture. Only the Aboriginal people made their home along the coasts of Vancouver Island until 1843, when they were joined by the Hudson's Bay Company, who established a fort on what is now Victoria's Bastion Square. The British settlers arrived and began building a city of refined architecture and cultural sophistication.
