Why Vote for McCain? Why Vote for Obama?

Who Can and Will Lead America?

Michael K. Miller
On November 4, 2008, voting in the 2008 Presidential Election will take place. Why vote for Senator John McCain of Arizona? Why vote for Senator Barack Obama of Illnois? The most important decision of your lifetime is upon you.

Set aside Democrats v. Republicans. Set aside the personalities of the candidates: Senator Joe Biden, Senator John McCain, Senator Barack Obama, Governor Sarah Palin. Set aside the talking points from David Axelrod, Tucker Bounds, Bill Burton, Jill Hazelbaker, David Plouffe, Steve Schmidt, and the cadre of spinners and handlers. Set aside the flappings of the MSNBC peacock and the stealth of FOX.

Purge your system of the pollsters, hacks, surrogates. Cleanse your mind, your spirit. Remember, regenerate your sense of self, purpose, direction. Why should you vote for McCain for President? Why should you vote for Obama for President?

Who do YOU THINK can and will lead America? McCain, Obama? Who do YOU BELIEVE can and will lead America? McCain, Obama? Why?

Consider:

The 2008 Presidential Election for the United States of America is pivotal in Our history and destined to determine Our survival, as a Nation, as a People. Election 2008 is not about four years....

We the People have the privilege, the honor, the freedom to select and elect Our world-class President of 2008. Moreover, We the People, must seize our opportunity, accept our responsibility, and meet our obligation to select and elect Our world-class President to begin the Second American Revolution....

Election 2008 is not for a space in time of four years. Election 2008 is for the survival of Our Nation, in the history of all Time.

...

Gone are the heady times of myopic, self-indulgent hedonism. Gone is the oppressive omniscience of intrusive, other-centered globalization.

Set yourself free from the bondage of group thinkers and belief spinners telling you what to think, what to believe, what to do, and how to be. The yesterdays of masses, crowds, and mindless groupthink are passé, defunct, mort. What's next is you. Tomorrow is you.

The Sea Change of America is here, now. Embrace your personal opportunity and celebrate your personal challenge to surf the waves of sea change to your future. You were born. You will die. In your life, what's next? You, the individual, are next.

...

There is no quarter for weasel words, equivocation, convenient, suit-the-moment rhetoric, policy clarifications, media spins, or special treatment pleas, diatribes, or press releases.

The time is short. The time is now. Are you an American citizen and for the people, by the people, and of the people of the United States of America?

Thinking, Believing, and Knowing

Think? Believe? What do you really KNOW about these people? Who is Senator McCain? Who is Senator Obama?

Who do you know you would want as your neighbor? McCain? Obama? Who do you know you would welcome into your church? McCain? Obama? Who do you know you would hire to work for you? McCain? Obama?

If you were sick, who do you know you would telephone for help? McCain? Obama? If your life depended on it, who do you know would try to save you? McCain? Obama?

Sacrificing, Suffering, Dying

Who would you sacrifice for? Who would you suffer for? Who would you die for?

Who will receive your vote in the 2008 Presidental Election? McCain? Obama?

These are not rhetorical questions. Answers to these questions will define the rest of your life.

Answer wisely.

I see that you did not pick sides. You left it up to the reader to decide.

Excellent. I love the rhythm. Well the people have decided. I'm struggling just living in a neighborhood riddled with Obamabots. I don't know how Id manage if he were my neighbor.

This was very interesting but frustrating to get to the end and find... no personal decision on your part as to what you will do. Sure everyone has to think it through and come up with their own answers but as a reader, I would like to have known what happened when you got through the process.

I have always been against just voting along party lines. It is important to know the issues and how they relate to you.

Truly interesting. I do hope that every voter who goes to the polls will have researched the candidates as much as possible and thought deeply about the choice made.

Fantastic and thought provoking, cutting through all of the white noise and spin, zeroing in on the epicenter of decision. Thank you Michael!

Very well done and enjoyable resources. I chuckled after reading eiffelvu's comment...I couldn't help to see the irony of the comment on an article encouraging readers to discover the truths...I wonder if eiffelvu is aware of the subversive neighbors, friends, and confidants that enjoys the company of her candidate of choice...and if her desire is realized where she would fit among that crowd...
