The show itself has a really great tone to it. In the first episodes we learn that Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) husband has been cheating on her. He finds himself in jail after a political corruption scandal. Alicia has to go out and find work so she can support her family while Peter is in jail. The thing that I love about the show is they could have very easily turned it into an ugly divorce battle or something similar. However, it becomes a show about a woman going out and earning a living for her family. And she does a darn good job doing so. This show proves that as a woman, you can go out and do anything you set your mind to in any given situation.
The producers have done a great job focusing on the "girl power" issue rather than the cheating issue. This very easily could have turned into one of those shows where Alicia is always whining about what's happened to her. Instead, she holds her head up high and goes out and does what needs to be done. She never complains either. I love that about her!
Another reason to watch the show is for the Alicia/Kalinda chemistry. The chemistry the two of them have is great! These two work very well together and without Kalinda the show wouldn't be what it is. She's also a tough woman who never backs down. Alicia's life is an open book. Everyone knows her business since her husband is involved in politics. Kalinda on the other hand is very private and we know little about her. I am very interested to see where the show goes as far as the two of them are concerned.
The relationships the actors and actresses have on the show are another big attraction for the show. They all work together well and they always have each other's back. Even when things are rocky between Will and Alicia he still supports her 100%.
If you've not yet seen "The Good Wife" I highly recommend giving it a shot. It's one of the best shows out there on TV right now! You can see it on Tuesday evenings at 10 pm EST.
