Why Wax Instead of Shave

Many women dread the painful waxing process and so opt to shave on a daily or every-other-day basis. This can become quite tedious as well as very time consuming. Waxing is much more efficient and more cost effective if done with an electric epilator.

Rough skin. We all know that after shaving, in a day or two the hair begins to grow back. When the hair returns, the tips of the hair are sharp from being sliced by the razor. This makes legs particularly scratchy and rough within two or three days of shaving. Shaving must be kept up on a regular basis or the woman, her husband and the sheets all suffer.

Hair grows back finer. When waxing, the roots of the hair are pulled out and new hair must grow. This new hair is much younger and does not have the chance to get as thick or as long as the previous hair since the roots are brand new. This makes the new hair fine and soft and the tips of the hair are pointed naturally which does not feel rough at all when growing out. So even if the hair grows out a little ways, it does not affect the surface of the skin by making it rough. Also, after frequent waxing, depending upon your ethnic origins and genetics, the hair may not come back as full in the future.

Pain disappears over time. Waxing can be very painful, but in time the pain decreases and within several weeks the pain is not noticeable at all. Nerves send pain signals to the brain telling the brain that the body is being harmed in some manner. It is not that you get used to the pain over time. After a while, the brain recognizes that the pain does not mean that the body is in danger and tells the nerves to stop sending the signals. After this occurs, you may feel the pulling of the hair, but there will be no pain accompanying it. The time frame on this phenomenon is different for different women, but on a weekly waxing schedule, it would be reasonable to assume that the pain would disappear in less than two months.

Time saving. It certainly is more efficient to wax rather than shave. You will not be spending every other day sticking your leg up in the shower. Instead, once a week or every two weeks is a reasonable frequency to use for waxing. If you use an electric epilator the time can go by much more quickly. It is also more cost effective to use an electric epilator because you will not be paying for or picking out wax refills every month. No mess, no sticky leftovers and no containers.

Toxin elimination. One of the interesting facets of waxing is that it temporarily creates a hole between certain lymph areas in your legs and the surface of the skin. You might notice while you are waxing that clear or slightly yellow liquid drains from your pores after you pull out the hair. This is because, until the tissue closes up, the hair has opened up a pathway for lymph drainage to occur. Always keep a dry paper towel nearby to wipe off any lymph drainage because that is toxic fluid and you do not want it to remain on your legs.

Whether it be waxing underarms, belly, face, bikini or legs, pulling hair out is always better than shaving. When you shave in soft tissue like the bikini area or upper thighs, the tips of the hair can be redirected and ingrown hair can occur. When waxing, these areas are in much less danger. Overall, waxing is much better than shaving.
