Why We Love Simon Cowell

Okay, love may be too strong of a word. This article will go over some reasons why we like Simon Cowell. Yeah, that's better.

Who is Simon Cowell? Besides the rude crude dude on American Idol there is more to Simon Cowell than meets the eye. Simon Phillip Cowell was born October 7, 1959 in England. A lot of people wonder who he is and what qualifies him to be so judgmental on American Idol. Although it doesn't qualify him to be judgmental this information may shed some light on why he is qualified to be a judge on American Idol. One title he goes by is Artist-and-Repertoire Executive. He is also a producer. A few reality shows he has produced are: America's Got Talent, Celebrity Duets, American Inventor and the X Factor.

You may be interested to know that Simon Cowell has an autobiography titled, "I Don't Mean To Be Rude, But....". You can purchase this book at Amazon.com.

There are a few other tidbits about Simon Cowell that may surprise you as well, or maybe they won't. Simon has done a lot of charity work. I could tell on previous Idol Gives Back episodes he does have a heart for charity work. It is rumored that he is promising to donate $180 million to charity in his will. That is a nice chunk of change! Simon is also a strong animal rights activist and contributed $20,000 to set up the Hope Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Barbados.

In other interesting charitable news Simon bid on a shopping trip with Ivanka Trump on the Celebrity Apprentice and won it for $100,000.00 It must be nice to be that rich!

One perspective on why we like Simon Cowell is the fact that he says what is on his mind. He also says what everyone is thinking most of the time but most wouldn't dare say. I know on American Idol he is very rude but if you are honest you know you agree with him some of the time. I do think he goes overboard with his criticism at times. When he starts attacking someone's personal appearance, in my opinion, that is too far. There is a difference between constructive criticism and just being rude, spiteful or degrading of someone.

Simon is just one of those people who we love to hate. We say how much we can't stand him, but we keep on watching him. We might as well settle down and buckle up. I don't see Simon Cowell going anywhere. Simon is here to stay!
