Why We Love Surfer Boys

Southern California is the epitome of the sun-kissed, bleach-blonde surfer look. Remember the hopeless but nonetheless lovable Jeff Spicoli from Amy Heckerling's "Fast TImes at Ridgemont High?" The whole "Hey dude, how's it going?" mentality is still strong today, and if you live by the beach like I do you'll run into these types on a daily basis. Perhaps you've even dated a few. Here are the top ten reasons we love the surfer boys.

10) He's so easy-going, down-to-earth, relaxed and laid-back, and you rarely ever see him upset. If he ever gets depressed it's because he wasn't able to go surfing.

9) Everything is "chill". The weather, the waves, the food, your outfit. Even life is just, well, chill!

8) Those shaggy blonde curls dripping with salt water after a hard core rip session.

7) His firm, muscular body from all the maneuvering he does on those waves. And the way his swimtrunks hang dangerously low on his hips.

6) The way he refers to you as his "babe" or his "Gidget" and how he proudly waves to you from his surfboard when he's out at sea.

5) Chances are he's well-traveled and been to countries like Costa Rica and Indonesia on surf expeditions.

4) The fact that he can live out of a volkswagon camper bus and get by on less than $10 a day means he has killer survival skills.

3) He can get away with wearing the same t-shirt all week because he hardly ever has to wear it.

2) He's content with the simpler things in life. He could just sit on the beach next to you, cuddling under a towel, gazing at the sun setting over the last swell of the day, and he's honestly satisfied.
