Why Do Wedding Planners and Caterers Charge Extremely "High Prices" for Receptions?

Phillip W. Chambley
If your planning on hiring a catering service for your wedding reception, you may want to think twice? Some of these caterers and planners can charge you as much as $100.00 or more per guest or "head" as they describe it. These people are experts, and also know how to "sucker" a NEW bride and groom into their web of deceit.

They will start at a low price of each item and before you know it! Your charged with over (50) fifty different items for each guest, which these family members and friends are NOT aware of at the time of the wedding reception. The only thing they can think about about after a wedding ceremony is "It's time to eat!" Who cares about how much it cost or this stupid ceremony?" I"m hungry!" I came here for the FREE food, music and drinks. Ironically, this is the number one reason why people show up for weddings to begin with.

Local caterers will charge you for each additional item(s) such as: guest table clothes in any form, table skirts, candles, glass plates, glass cups, stainless steel silverware, cloth napkins, bubbles, floating candles, flower rings, unity candle(s), gift bags, balloons, cameras, knife and pie slicer, and bride and groom toasting glasses, etc......... And the list seems to go on forever.

Unfortunately, this price of each item(s) does NOT even include the price of the food or your wedding cake! Email or try calling one of these "High Class" local caterers over the internet and ask them for a price? They will tell you they will send you a menu and you pick out each item of your choice with NO prices listed, which can be over as much as 100 items or more! Then a wedding co-ordinator will possibly call you to discuss your plans stating "I am here to make your wedding plans easier?"

If you've mistakably told them your price range of your catering budget. The price gets even higher now, because this wedding co-oridinator and or catering manager executive makes a commission off each sell that they have offered you via a so-called package program, which can run into thousands of dollars, and "hound you to death" over the phone or email, because you have unfortunately given them some personal information regarding this particular event, especially your price range, which can be a "Huge Mistake" from the very beginning of your conversation. (Always start out low).

They may tell you that your custom designed (3) three tier wedding cake is going to cost approx.$500.00 in upfront "hidden" itemized expenses. The grooms cake alone is going to cost $175.00 for a single layer cake! The decorations around these cakes table will cost an additional expense, because you are charged for each and every item, especially the table cloth, which they never tell you about in their expenses.

Now, it's finally time to discuss the food? Your caterer or wedding co-ordinator may say? "Would you like for your guest to be presented with a full meal or just a simple meal?" This full meal meat menu can possibly consist of: Carved ham, Beef pot roast, Cubed steak with mushroom gravy, Chicken Alfredo, Steak skewers, Chicken skewers, Shrimp skewers, Crab meat mushroom caps or any meat that will cost you approx.$15.00 per guest, per plate, plus the basic menu price of ($18.00) listed below based on today's average prices, AND the additional cost of your other itemized expenses for each item that you choose!

A simple American meal at wedding receptions may consist of: Assorted Drinks & Desserts, Chicken wings, Meatballs, Cocktail wieners, Deviled eggs, Potato salad, Broccoli and cheese, Spinach dip, Pasta salad, 3 inch sandwiches, Veggie tray, Fruit tray, Cheese tray, assorted crackers, Chex mix, Tossed salad with 3 different dressings, Chips and dips, Peanut and Mints at a normal fee of $18.00 per person, but does NOT the additional fees.

Wedding caterers will also charge you with a local food tax, because this food has been purchased at a local grocery store such as Kroger or Publix, thus, causing you a more outrageous price. (Service charge taxes are not permitted here in the United States). The majority of these upstanding caterers may also purchase most of these products at "Sam's Club" at a discounted price.
