My favorite part about Wegmans is the prices. I find that I am able to get much more food for my money at Wegmans than our other local grocery store. Wegmans also produces a great deal of Wegmans brand products as well. The Wegmans products taste just as good, if not better, than the name brands and definitely cost less. I realize that most grocery stores have their own products, but Wegmans has a huge selection that even allows me to do ALL of my grocery shopping for the week with just Wegmans products.
There are great deals to be found in the pharmacy as well. You can get 30 day prescriptions for $4 and 90 day ones for $10. Antibiotics are free which is great especially in the wintertime.
Wegmans also mails out coupon books that include a free item each week. The items are all useful things such as eggs, milk, butter, and baby carrots. As a college student, I especially appreciate the coupon page just for students at the beginning of the school year which offers extra free items to us such as toothpaste (something no college kid ever wants to pay for!).
Wegmans has special sections that you may not be able to find in other grocery stores. They carry dishes, pans, and kitchen tools that you may need to pick up for a special meal. This saves you from having to make a special trip to another store. They also have decorations for sale based on the time of year and a huge selection of back to school stuff in the fall. Some Wegmans locations also offer cooking classes and Teen Culinary Camp.
Wegmans might be most famous for the food court included inside. You can get subs, pizza, and Chinese food all made fresh. There is even sushi available and at certain times you can watch it being made while you eat.
If all this hasn't convinced you to check out Wegmans, you may be interested to know that the May 2009 issue of Consumer Reports just named Wegmans the #1 supermarket in the United States. Wegmans received the highest possible scores in service, cleanliness, and perishables. My only complaint about Wegmans is that it is always so packed since people love it so much.
