According to the Labor Statistics, it is the first time since 1940, woman are not reentering the workforce. Women on maternity leave do not want to juggle a job with work. Now, men need women in the workforce.
The cost of the war has gotten companies into a rut. Men are earning less, while women want to stay at home and childrear. It is putting a strain on the families' to make ends meet.
Society has changed. Families need more money to survive, and the "needs" are things that were non-existent a century ago. The cost of health care and gasoline are also a strain on the family funds. The family needs to reevaluate finances, and create a budgeting plan.
Daycare and education cost more today than ever. Oftentimes, the amount the woman earns does not justify the cost of daycare or babysitting. In addition, women want the chance to raise their children themselves, rather than a babysitter or daycare center.
According to the Pew Research Center, only one in five women want a fulltime position. Twenty percent do not want to reenter the workforce, and 60% of the women want a part time position. These totals 80% of women do not want to work fulltime.
Lower income women in the workforce do not have the opportunity to have an official leave of absence. The women have to quit. Employers that hire women in the retail stores and restaurants have a high turnover of employees, making it easier to replace workers who have to leave.
Some employers are trying creative ways to encourage women back to the workforce for hard to replace positions. They are giving women the chance to work from home or tailor the hours spent at work. However, this was not the case with one worker. She was willing to come in earlier, eat lunch at her desk and stay longer. However, when her children got sick and she had to leave work, her boss could not handle that. The mother had to choose between her job and tending to the children.
New creations and options are available from some employers for women returning to the workforce, but mothers have to take care of their children, and it is like chasing two rabbits and not catching one. Many women think it is the ideal situation for her family, to stay home and concentrate on that full time job.
