Why Writing Web Content By Hand or Typewriter Earns You More Than Writing it Online

Katrina J.
Are you a freelance writer? Do you write for the web? If so, have you ever considered writing your web content offline and then typing it on your computer later? Here are some reasons why this may be more profitable for you than writing web content online using your computer.

Flexibility of Location

Writing with a pen and pad allows you to work wherever you want. You can make working a very enjoyable experience by working in a soothing environment instead of being limited to working within a few feet of an electrical outlet. Working in a relaxing environment makes you work more efficiently and could influence you to work more because you will not be dreading it. Imagine your writing location being an escape from the pressures of being mom, dad or spouse for a few hours. Does that sound nice?

Fewer Distractions

Because you don't have to work at home or in a café, you can go to a more private place like a park bench in front of a pond. Working with fewer distractions means that less of your time will be wasted which will allow you to stay on task and make more money with your time.

Better Time Tracking

How well are you able to track the amount of time it takes you to write an article when you write online? Perhaps you're not even actively tracking the amount of time it takes you to write an article. If not, you're probably letting money slip out of your hands every day you are working. If your article payouts are fixed, then the only way to increase your earnings is to write faster.

Here's a tip for tracking your time while writing offline. Get a legal pad and indicate the time you started the article in the left column by writing "s" by it. Set a time limit for yourself and label it "d" for deadline. Now, as you write you can look at your watch or cel phone to make sure you're on track to finish at a rate fast enough to turn a profit. Whatever time you finish the article, write "f" next to that time. At the end of your work day, go back and check how long it took you t write each one. Now you know your hourly rate and you have a good starting index for increasing it.

I use my Blackberry and write while I commute. because i do so pretty quickly during time I wouldn't be doing anything else constructive, I find writing online more constructive. Interesting read though.

I need that physical contact with the pen and paper for creative reasons. It helps me to be in touch with my emotions which is important if you are going to write poetry. Thanks for the good practicle advice though.
