The public transportation in LA is horrible.
Have you ever tried to get somewhere in LA on a bus or train? You have to ride the bus forever to get to where you are going and that is if you can find where to catch a bus. While in LA, I was told that long ago someone was trying to promote the motor vehicle. Therefore, LA's public transportation is not really valued. The subway is very limited. It only goes to certain places and those certain places are very few. One day I had to figure out how to get to the place I was staying from a place I had been dropped off. I had no idea what I was doing, and it was dark outside. Unfortunately, I never figured it out. I called a cab.
The public transportation in New York is easy to navigate and efficient.
I am convinced that you can get from any one place in New York City to another place in New York City in twenty minutes or less. All you need is a 2.00 metro card. You don't even to have to start out knowing where you are going. Just sit next to someone and ask him or her how you get to where you want to go. People in New York City take the train so much that most of them know the routes like the back of their hand. If you happen to find someone who does not know what they are talking about, there are easy to follow maps posted in the station and on the trains.
The traffic in LA is something you don't want to deal with.
Every time you want to travel somewhere in LA, whether it be to an audition or an exhibit, you have to hop on a major highway and travel for miles. The state of
California is based on acres and acres of farmland. Therefore, you have to do a lot of traveling between destinations. When you hit those highways, there is usually a lot of traffic, and it can take you up to an hour to get somewhere.
The traffic in New York is bad, but why deal with traffic when you have a great public transportation system?
LA is only diverse because it is near New Mexico.
As I traveled through LA, I constantly wondered where all the minorities were. Where did they hang out? I did not see a good amount of African Americans or Latinos anywhere. There were many Asians, but I did not see them partying anywhere in particular.
New York City is a mixture of different cultures.
You do not have to go too far to see an assortment of different people in the city of New York. They are all over the place. You can find diverse groups in the coffee shops, walking down the street, or just hanging out at the average mall.
Only some parts of LA are a nice stroll down a path of shops and sites. Then you have to get in your car and drive somewhere else.
The places that people talk about in LA, such as the shops and celebrity hangouts are only on a few blocks in certain parts of the city. Those parts are not close to each other at all.
In New York City you can begin walking on Broadway, continue to Times Square, and then proceed to Tribeca and see all kinds of expensive shops and restaurants on the way.
In between these parts of town, you may even hit Canal Street depending on which way you are going. Canal is ten blocks or more of shopping and good food. Then when you have finished walking, you are either in Tribeca or ChinaTown, another place full of eye candy.
The people in LA are "different."
In LA, everyone has their laptop out in the coffee houses working on a screenplay. The most popular magazine is something that lists all the film and TV jobs in Hollywood. Most people have got a story about having once been a production assistant, and if you ask someone for directions, they look at you as if you are trying to beat them to an audition somewhere.
The people in New York City are artsy.
In New York City, you have a one in five chance of bumping into someone who has tickets to tonight's Broadway show. You have a two in five chance of meeting someone who can get you a job in advertising, and most people won't mind sharing a cab with you.
There you have it, my reasons why New York City is better than LA. I hope you enjoy visiting both cities, and if you do not agree with me feel free to comment.

Post a Commentny is way better than LA ny has everything not just the city but the whole state ny is one of the richest state in the world believe me when you come to nyc or ny state you will LOOOOOOVEEEE
IT!!!!!!!
NY is the best city in the world as far as liveliness is concerned. I rate it higher than LA & London. Other cities like Toronto and Berlin or Paris are dull.
Wow this was the most misleading article ever. People DO NOT pay any attention to this article! LA is a great place and has so much to offer. With the beaches down Pacific Coast Highway you can literally cruise down that street for hours and hit every beach down the west coast shore line. Or hit up stores on fairfax and rodeo drive. Stores like DIamon supply, supreme, the hundreds, dope couture, gucci, D&G, Ed hardy, Etc. That west coast flavor is EVERYWHERE! You can feel it once you begin to see the tallest building off the freeway. If anyone complains about traffic, theyre not from LA. You get used to it after a while and It actually doesnt feel like an hour at all. In LA you get used to the public transportation. Make friends who drive and your set. Or buy yourself a car if your going to stay.
NYC summers are hot and humid, winters are cold and wet. I miss NYC, but I will take LA, even with the horrible traffic and hard to navigate subway system. I think that LA is as diverse as NYC, maybe more. Manhattan is great, but once you leave the city the rest of the area is lacking.
nyc has more to offer., period
New York City is the 2nd most visited city in the world while Los Angeles is 16th according to joejourneys. New York City offers more choices including suburban-type areas if you want. People from the suburbs are moving to New York City because the lifestyle is better. New York City offers something for everyone - for drivers, non-drivers, fast-paced neighborhoods, slow-paced neighborhoods, beaches, parks, wide boulevards, quaint narrow streets, old buildings, new buildings, four seasons, islands (Roosevelt, Broad Channel, City Island, Randalls Island, Wards Island, more), bridges, highways, subways, cabs, buses, cars, rivers, skyscrapers, arts, theater, publishing, business, science, music, museums, colleges, libraries, restaurants and so much more.
NY, while not my cup of tea, has alot more to offer than LA does IMO. I live in LA and can't stand this craphole.
NY has a vibe and liveliness that LA simply cannot match. LA is very disjointed, you feel like you don't belong anywhere.
Is it any wonder the areas that most people WANT to live in LA actually feel like NY?
iv never been to LA but iv been to nyc and i love i there im a big shopper and they have plenty of stores so is my mom lol but i dont want to go to LA no more because the artical told me all i want to know thank you
When it comes to museums, restaurants, clubs, universities/colleges, the theater, public transportation, and street life, NOTHING beats New York City. You can do it all and without a car. According to a 2007 American Community Survey, just over half of current New Yorkers—50.5 percent to be exact—moved to NYC either from another country or another state. The life expectancy for New Yorkers is 1.5 years higher than the national average. Plus, 45 percent of those under 35 said they would like to live in New York. As mentioned earlier, New York City has beaches of its own as well as beaches and mountains within the Greater New York area. Jones Beach, the Hamptons, the Catskill Mountains, the Adirondacks and more. Tupac? When it comes to music, whether it be pop, classical, rock, jazz, country or ethnic music, you will find the best in NYC. There are so many concerts and clubs that offer it all.
PART 3
If you want to look at art work,
you can pay money and go to a museum, or you can just look at the grafiti in the LA river for free(or else where).
I can go on and on and on. Plus, Tupac will always be number one.
What I can say in a negative aspect is that LA is still plagued by gangs and violence. And yes we do
have bad transportation, but we are slowly improving on that as we do have some subways now. I believe
we didn't have subways before due to Earthquakes, but are structures are built strong for that kind of impact.
Sorry, but LA is one of the greatest cities ever. People complain, yet everyone always wants to come back here.
