Wicker Storage Trunk

How a Wicker Trunk is Made and the Benefits of Owning One

Michael Grisso
Wicker storage trunks are made by weaving hard fibers together to form the storage trunk. These fibers are traditionally made from natural plant products, including rattan cane fibers, but some modern wicker storage trunks are being created using plastic fibers. Although wicker is often referred to as Rattan, this does not guarantee that the product itself is made from the plant as many other natural materials are used in the creation of wicker storage trunks, including willow, bamboo and a variety of natural reeds.

Wicker storage trunks are usually light weight, making them a perfect choice for the home, as they can easily be moved when necessary. The natural strength of the products used to make wicker storage trunks and the woven structure of the design make wicker storage trunks very durable home accessories that can stand up to years of service with very little maintenance.

Wicker trunks are perfect for storing items which can safely be stored within the room temperature and humidity of the average home because the open weave of the design allows airflow through the structure. This air flow makes the wicker storage trunk a wonderful option for the storage of seasonal clothing or bedding, which could otherwise develop odors from enclosed storage containers.

As an extra reason, wicker home furnishings, including quality wicker storage trunks, can usually be obtained for a lower price than comparably sized items made from other materials. High quality wicker storage trunks usually sell for less than $100 as compared to cedar chests which can see prices of more than $300. Wicker storage trunks are a very good solution for the budget conscious person who needs extra storage space in the home. With their low price, rugged durability and chic appearance, wicker storage trunks are a welcome addition to nearly any homes furnishings.

Hi Michael. I agree because I have owned a wicker trunk for about 20 years or so. I can't even remember how many moves it has been through. I love it and it IS definitely durable and light weight.
