With the NFL becoming more and more a passing league, fantasy football wide receivers are more important these days. Drafting a good core of wide receivers for your fantasy football team is a must. So on to my 2010 fantasy football wide receiver rankings. If you want free fantasy football advice then click this link.
1 Andre Johnson-Houston Texans
Andre Johnson is the best wide receiver in the 2010 fantasy football draft. He is just a monster and with Matt Schaub forms a great passing attack. Last season Andre Johnson caught over 100 balls for almost 1,600 yards. Look for that to improve as the Texans do in 2010.
2 Reggie Wayne-Indianapolis Colts
I think the Colts will be hungry after losing the Super Bowl to the Saints and I look for Reggie Wayne to have another great season in him. Wayne catches more touchdowns than some elite fantasy football receiver and having Peyton Manning inflates his numbers.
3 Steve Smith - New York Giants
The Giants running game is heading down hill and that does hurt Steve Smith but it helps as well. Smith is an excellent possession receiver and he and Eli Manning form a decent combo.
4 Roddy White- Atlanta Falcons
Matt Ryan is ready to step up and Roddy White will go as Ryan goes. White scored 11 touchdowns last year and I think he will again with more catches in 2010. Playing the Panthers and Bucs twice a year will inflate Roddy White's numbers, making him a viable starting fantasy football receiver in 2010.
5 Brandon Marshall- Miami Dolphins
The thing with Brandon Marshall will be seeing how he plays now that he has the new team he wanted. He was a big baby in Denver and I am afraid he may not play hard now that he is content. However if he does then he is a ball catching machine and will excel in a Miami short passing offense.
6 Miles Austin- Dallas Cowboys
Miles Austin exploded on the scene and then proved to be a good fantasy football wide receiver. Tony Romo can get him the ball and Austin would be higher if Dallas didn't have so many other weapons. But I expect him to catch 75-85 passes for about 1,200 yards and 10 scores in 2010.
7 DeSean Jackson- Philadelphia Eagles
DeSean Jackson is already the best playmaker in the NFL, now he is a top ten fantasy wide receiver. Look for Jackson to form a nice bond with Kevin Kolb and to put up huge receiving numbers in 2010.
8 Sidney Rice- Minnesota Vikings
If Brett Favre can stave off father time for one more season then Sidney Rice will be the biggest benefactor. Rice is a homerun threat and having defenses focusing on Adrian Peterson will help Rice in 2010.
9 Larry Fitzgerald- Arizona Cardinals
Fitzgerald is a great, great wide receiver but he drops on this 2010 fantasy football wide receiver cheat sheet. Matt Leinart may have been the greatest college quarterback ever as you can see here. But Leinart has to prove he can play in the NFL and until he does then Larry Fitzgerald will suffer.
10 Calvin Johnson- Detroit Lions
Calvin Johnson is a great wide receiver on a bad team but I expect 2010 to be a breakout fantasy football season for him. The Lions are improving and I think Matthew Stafford is the real deal.
Wes Welker was not put on my list of the top ten fantasy football wide receivers due to his injury. It usually takes two years to fully recover from such a bad injury and I think Welker will have a sub par season for him.
