Wii Exercise Plan Worked for Me, from Size 14 to 8

Wii Fit, My Fitness Coach, EA Sports Active, Great Exercise at Home

I never liked working out, it always seemed like too much work. I thought of joining a gym, but with the travel time and cost, it never really was a practical option. I'd been overweight since the birth of my two sons, and always wanted to loose the weight, but never really tried, until one Christmas Santa delivered the Wii to my kids.

The system came with the game, Wii Fit. I began using it, starting slowly. I worked up to 30 minutes a day, most days, jogging, doing step aerobics, and leg exercises. I followed that routine for a few weeks. When I was no longer challenged by Wii Fit, I purchased, My Fitness Coach.

My Fitness Coach was more of a workout video, with continuous exercises as opposed to individual activities found on Wii Fit. After setting up my profile on My Fitness Coach, I was given a fitness routine which I did everyday for 30 minutes, in addition to the 30 minutes of Wii Fit. I'd alternate between a cardio routine, and flexibility routine on My Fitness Coach, and aerobics, and strength training, on Wii Fit. I continued this for two months.

After two months, I introduced EA Sports Active to my fitness plan, alternating between that, and Wii Fit. I exercised for 60 minutes most days. After 7 months on the Wii exercise plan, I went from a size 14 to a size 8, and lost about 40 lbs. I still have about 10-15 lbs I'd like to loose, but it seems the last 10 lbs has been the most difficult.

Working out at home at my convenience, has made all the difference. With no transportation needed, I can workout in the time it would take me to travel to a gym. While I don't have access to fancy machines, I pretend I'm Rocky in Rocky IV, training with what's available, instead of the hi-tech equipment his opponent, Ivan Drago used to train.

There are add-ons to make the exercises more challenging. The Wii balance board is great for step aerobics, and the resistance band makes the strength exercises possible on EA Sports Active. I also have a stability ball, which I use on My Fitness Coach to do sit ups. The great thing about using the Wii as your exercise system, is there always introducing more games. I'm anxious to try the new EA Sports Active 2, though at $99, I'm hoping Santa will bring it for me.

With today's technology, exercise doesn't have to feel like work. There is literally something for everyone, even those who've found it difficult to exercise in the past. Now, in the comfort and privacy of your own home, you can get a quality work out, whenever you want, and once you start, it'll become part of a routine, at least it has with me.
