Wii Lose WeightI bought Wii Fit with the balance board on Sunday. This blog will track my wii fit weight loss. The title, Wii Lose Weight, is my little play on words. What I'm hoping will happen, is that I'll actually lose weight with my wiifit game and that others will pick up the same habits.

Listen, I'm no fitness expert. My exercise habits went in the toilet during college. All my time went into finishing my degree, sleeping, and hanging out with friends. On top of that, I worked 3 jobs. Fitness was not even a thought. Now I'm way overweight, and I want to stick around for my wife and kids. The only way to really do that is through a balanced diet and exercise.

So where am I starting out? Are you ready for the before picture? Here is the tale of the tape.

Starting Weight: 259lbs
Waist: 40"
BMI (Body Mass Index): 36.1

The plan is to incorporate the wiifit and Nintendo balance board into a daily exercise regimen of at least 30 minutes. The exercises will come from the wii fit game and its categories, namely:

Yoga: Streching, Balance, Breathing, Posture
Balance: Balance, Posture
Strength Training: Muscle Building and Toning
Aerobics: Body Toning and Fat Burning

Wii Fit measures the time actually spent doing the exercies. There is no record for time spent between exercises or navigating through menus. That means, 30+ minutes of exercise means 30 minutes of actual body work. I have been advised to stick mainly with the Yoga, Strength, and Aerobics exercises. I will incorporate the balance activities from time to time to break any tedium.

Beginning with my sedentary lifestyle, we'll see not just how my stats improve, but also how my general feeling of well being, energy level, moods, etc. change over time.

Is it working? Maybe 3 days is too soon to ask.
