Well, now we can have them at our fingertips for next to nothing. The new Nintendo Wii offers a Virtual Console for people who miss their old games. You can take control of games from 9 different platforms; NES, SNES, N64, Arcade, Commodore 64, Master System, NEOGEO, Sega Genesis, and TurboGrafx 16.
You can use the original Wii remote with most of the games offered. If you purchase the Classic Controller you will be able to play ALL games that you can get with this system. You can also buy a N64 controller, but again please make sure it is compatible with the game you are playing. The Wii tells you what controllers or other items needed to play the game you want to buy either on the game box or before you buy through the Virtual Console. The games you purchase via the Virtual Console feature are downloaded directly onto your console Wii. You can use a memory card as well, so that way you never run out of room. However, the Wii will hold up to 15-20 games downloaded from the internet depending on size.
To purchase games through the internet using your Wii and the Virtual Console you must first buy points. You can get them at $10 for 1000 points, $20 for 2000 points, etc. Most games are 1000 points or less. You can buy the points right from your Wii. Simply connect to the internet, enter the Wii Shop Channel, and choose Add Wii Points. You enter your credit card information right on the screen and are approved for your selected amount of points in seconds.
So for $5 you can play that old school Super Mario Bro. or Super Mario Bros. 2, heck you can even get Super Mario 3 for that price. How about Donkey Kong? Remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? You can get them all for less than a meal at the local fast food restaurant. Put all your favorite Nintendo games on one system. Go from Mario, to Zelda Ocarina of Time, then speed past opponents in Mario Kart 64, while ending your day with a little Sonic the Hedgehog.

Post a CommentI must be behind the loop because I didn't know this. My son will be excited (if he doesn't already know more than his out of date Mom when it comes to tech stuff).
Sounds pretty cool. I have some old favorites I'd like to try again. Just tweeted this article on twitter.com/momietullottes. :-)
